Additional info....2 plants grown in ffof soil under 4 150w equivalent cfl bulbs. Watered when crusty on top( every couple days) temps get high up to 90 half the day and around 82 other times.(can only keep cooler when I'm home and can leave the closet door open... Grown in a 2 foot by 15 in 4 foot tall box. Humidity ranges from 50% when hotter to 35% when cooler... I also put then in the gallon pots from the solo cups two days ago and growth has seemed healthy.

ffof is kind of a hot soil or plants these days are showing sensitivity, not sure which, but... looks like not much of a problem right now. just make sure that at 90 degrees you keep that soil wet. when the temp drops to the high 70's you can water much less frequently. let it grow several more inches then transplant to what will be it's final pot, at least a 5 gallon bucket. a large tote would be good to use but will take a lot more soil and take up space. don't add any ferts unless you're certain that you need to, and only do that at some point in the future. that soil should be good for several weeks, maybe the entire grow depending on how long you grow it. ffof might last for 8 weeks or more without added ferts, especially if you use a large container.

Yeah I only bought nutes for the flowering stage cus I heard it was a hot soil. I got humbolt county's crystal burst. And I did just put into the one gallon container so could it just he the fresh soil was just too hot for it? Also what's a tote? I've also considered topping and maybe some LST to get at least 4 colas will that increase the time much in a soil grow to need nutes near the end of vegging?

a tote is one of those large blue rectangular bucket things you can buy at Walmart. they come with lids and are used for storing stuff, usually in a garage or attic. let it grow another foot before you top it. but there's nothing wrong with one large cola either. if you could put a sodium light hanging off to one side and rotate the plant around, that will probably give you good bushiness. don't add any nutes until you're certain they are needed. let the soil do the job first.
