So I went to check on the plants today and ive got slim and foam in the grow its a dwc system and I put malassas in a week ago what can I do to fix this
Don't use Molasses, I rarely see any improvement in ANY grows, regardless of what guys say, too slim ,foam even algae you may have a light leak some place, stay on the side of caution, best to flush
Why do so many newbie growers insist on using organics in hydroponics. The only reason you need any type of organics when ti comes to soil is because you need bacteria to eat (stuff in the soil--sugars--molasses) to convert it to enzymes and those enzymes are the carrier for the root system.
YOU DO NOT NEED any type of organics in hydroponics. If you insist on using molasses then use it as a foliar spray. It will still serve no function at all except to provide some trace minerals to the plant. You can get around the trace mineral supplement through foliar by just buying a micro nutrient and adding it to your reservoir(control bucket).
Again no need for any type of organics in Hydroponics. There is no need for the plants to have to absorb anything from its roots from a carrier like an enzyme.
As far as your slime problem. That can be taken care of with a couple of factors. First off you should start the DWC off with any type of product such as startzyme or pondzyme. Second keep your water temperatures below 72 degrees. Third buy some silica blast or silica product and add to your reservoir. Now yes you are adding and enzyme, but the enzyme is only there to make sure no bacteria in the water gets out of control. So what happens is you create a n insurance policy for yourself so you can have peace of mind you won't get pythium.
The molasses helps to feed the bad bacteria and could make a mess of your res rather quickly...flush it and remix your 1 or 2 part nutrients and calmag...that's all they really need besides lumens to make big bud
