Small LED for Outdoor Veg

Hey anyone tried and true on how low of a light I can use to extend short days to keep plants in veg? Ive always used a t5 and pulled a tarp over but I'm over it. Sometime the wind blows the tarp off and my backyard is soooo bright! I just was some small deck lights glowing so I dont have to pull the tarp to keep my backyard from looking like a concert. The deck lights I got seam to put out about 18-20 lux at the top of the buckets. Is that enough to keep them "awake". Would hate for these guys to go into flower too early. Anyone with a similar situation please chime in. Thanks!

hey cool thanks! how big of area to you cover with the single 7 watt bulb? I want to spread out 10 1 watt led's over a 5 ft x 9ft area...

Rather small area maybe 5x5. It really doesnt take much to keep the plants in veg, but they need more light as they get bigger and cast shadows on the lower branches.

cool i keep topping and dont allow any undergrowth until they go in the flower house. if Anything the bigger they get the closer they will be to the light.

One way to extend veg, and cut electrical cost is to go the gas lantern route {to run your lights for one hour at midnight}. Like waterproof said, it doesn't take much light for the plants to "see" it.

If you are flowering outside, you will need to figure out when your drop dead date is regarding re-veg, and work backwards from that. I did a Spring crop in NW Florida last year, going outside into natural light hours on 1-19-17. Some of mine ran into re-veg issues.
