Like a dufus, I didn't think to weigh the amount of trim I had before starting the process, but it wasn't very much. I'll also post some pics and comments from my journal in here for you to check out. This was my first time trying ISO Hash so I was curious.
Strain: ISO Hash made from TRIMMINGS of Northern Lights
Growth: All trim, small amount
Nutes: NL where mostly grown with Miracle Grow Soil and Nutes. Switched to FF nutes near the end of flowering though.
Yield: Wound up with 2.5 grams of Hash
Bag Appeal: 1/10
Smell: Mainly neutral
Taste: 4/10, mainly neutral
The High: 6/10, Mostly heady.

Well this was my first time trying this out. And I ONLY use a vaporizer for herb. So that is what I used for this go round, which might give someone else a different experience with taste and smell.
The smell of the hash is rather neutral, until you put some heat on it. At that point, it starts to become a tad unpleasant. While vaporizing, it's not very noticeable, but you can smell the afterburn. Smells of chocolate chip cookies, but not really in a good way if that makes any sense. Also, I did cut it with a tiny bit of baking soda, so that may also have also influenced it.
More on the vaping aspect of it. The way this melts, I didn't want to put it directly on the screen in my vapor whip. I put the hash on a piece of tinfoil, then put that on the screen, so this made the vaporizer a bit less efficient, and I had to draw a bit harder. So this made the smoke 'seem' a bit harsher than I think it really is, as it took long draws of really dry heat.
The High was rather heady and up. Similar to the actual herb. I tried out a 0.4 gram sample, so I'm not sure how that would equivocate to actual herb. I can say if I vaporized 0.4 grams of the actual Northern Lights, I'd be stoned off my ass. But not so much with this. The one thing I can say, is with my last batch of Northern Lights, it's a total head high mostly, but I can still do some general thinking. The hash kinda impaired that a tad more.
Verdict:
It was cool to do. It also took me quite a bit of time and effort to get that little ball. I feel like the high wasn't as nice as the herb I get. Noir was the actual vaporizing of it. I don't get the same notes of flavor and range I get with the actual herb, so in that regard it also falls short. In The End......, I would say it isn't something I would probably be in a rush to do again, as vaporizing the actual herb is much better.
