So I am thinkin of a few things

First off, This is my first post soooo hello all!

So, im going to attempt to grow in a pretty small place. I was wondering if like 4ft of head room is tall enough? The space is like around 3 1/2ft wide x 2ft deep.
I picked up like 2 plant lights from walmart, and am gunna pick up some good pots sometime this week. (found a decent guide to follow, so the food I can prob handle)

My only concerns are : Can I pull this of without a person living with me knowing? I was gunna try my green thumb with like 1 plant first. (its not uber important, that persons got a garden of their own)
and
Will the plants keep growing toward the light? For example, will they grow upwards and burn up?

you can grow in that space, you'll want to flower when the plant is a foot tall.

personally, i'd suggest returning those grow lights and buying a bunch of cfls (those curly lights that screw into a normal socket).
