Since my guy lost everything in the flood this year I have to buy clones elsewhere.
Bought 6 from a store a few weeks ago and they did like shit. 24/7 CFL
Thought maybe it was too cold / too hot..under watered..overwatered...nutes etc. or something.
Got tired of looking at them so I trashed them.
Bought 4 more yesterday..they are all happy...transplant..still happy....wake up this morning and they are drooping.
Called the store..they clone under 24 / 7
Maybe heat..but it's not that hot.
Called my old clone supplier...he came over..took one look and told me ..way too much light. A 15 k lumen and 4x 2700 lumen..and I had them close.
He said I was shocking them by going from a low light to too much. And to put them on a table that gets indirect ambient light during the day and to put them on floor of my grow room. ( about 3 feet down from the light ) during the night. And slowly adjust from there. And to only use the 15k to keep heat low.
Never had this happen before..of course it's been a long time since I had to do this.
For the last 5 years I bought my clones from one guy...and let's say they were not small clones...wink wink...I mean you could flip them that day if you wanted.
2 foot tall, well rooted in final pot, bushy and green for 25 bucks ? You betcha.
The clones I got from the store were 10 bucks..had a decent root ball. Just can't hang with the big lights yet.
As for the loss from the clones...easily made up at harvest. Not even a lid to cover my expenses...even with clones from hell.
I've heard of light over exposure using HPS or MH...but not CFL.
Since my friend knows what the hell is talking about...I'll follow his advice.
Live, grow and learn.
Should have known..as another friend got a clone at the same time I did 3 weeks ago..put 2 2700k CFLS and forgot about it. It's a small tree. I was amazed that it did so well under 2 dinky CFLS.
Peace
