I ran bontancare for yrs then couldnt fine it any more at hydrofram dealers about a yr ago, That drove me to mega crop

No way!!!
Botnicare is owned by Hawthorne so for sure Hydrofarm in the US would not carry it anymore. Right now both of them are on a buying spree buying out wholesalers and small hydro comapanies. Hydrofarm is the lesser of the two monopolies but they both are reducing choice and independent companies.

Well the offer I had from someone today didn't really work out and not what I was hoping for so guess gonna start the close down. Gonna do it in over 60 days instead of 30 as don't think I can liquidate 60-70K in stock in 30 days and don't want to store any at home. Now the job search starts, that's gonna be fucked looking for work first time in 20 years. Also go to figure out how to keep the online store going

Shit man! Was hoping it would be an easy swing for you. Lots of folks are feeling the pinch in this business. As you well know from your former customers.
I can see your life is dramatically changing. I'm sure a year from now you will be glad you were forced out of a dead end business. Imo smart move on the store.

Well it would be easier if I was 20 years younger and 100x less in debt LOL I was ready for the whole industry to disappear in 5 years anyways and "had" some plans to transition out but all that money was used up to keep the place going. Who the hell expected a disease to kill the weed market. If this was like mid 2000's I could always flip weed and make crazy money just flipping 20LB per month now you can't even give weed away lol

It's because they couldn't keep up with the borg. The highly intelligent evolved mites generally pick gardens where they know the grower would fail, and sell all the equipment now. They lay dormant eggs in every nook and cranny of every tent/light/fan/etc ,and wait for people that would risk buying used gear. That way they can continue to spread and take over the worlds cannabis supply.

Ya the whole thing is fucked up beyond.
I get emails daily from vendor's trying to flog product. Everything from concentrates to edibles to weed etc etc.
All cheaper than the email before. I see guys trying just about anything to attract business.
A consumer of cannabis has never had it cheaper to get stoned.
As an end user it's quite easy to smoke a joint for under a dollar now a days.
Ya those days were great times. Actual demand for product. This era is SO full of FLAKES.
It's so fucked that you have to leave your business in debt. Sorry man. You obviously gave it your best effort. Ya hopefully selling your inventory will offset that and minimize your liability.
Ya I guess as far as can't give it away, the title of that thread of zero value isn't that far off true.

Today I was thinking back to the mid 80's when in Toronto the Q107 radio station ran "Home Grown Hydroponics" ads almost hourly or more.
They had a catchy jingle to boot. " The only Way to grow" was part of the song. Well can you imagine the flock of folks who bought this whole idea. I did and so did plenty of others.
And bingo in Ontario it all started.
FUCK were they busy back then. I used to have to drive there from Kitchener Waterloo to buy stuff. The store was hopping. They had several locations then I believe. The "homegrown 6 pack" was the big deal then. Amazing how far we have come really. So sad in many ways too. For SO many decent folks just trying to make a buck. Or save some.
I remember explaining to my mother that the ad was for growing weed.

Everybody there was so paranoid of cops or whatever that they always used the term growing "tomatoes".
The word cannabis was not a appreciated word there. Everyone acted as if they didn't have a clue what was going on. Including us customers. Quite a secretive attitude in the place was my take usually.
In those days you really kept your mouth shut.

Growing in Ontario in the 90's sure was sketchy. Since moving to Vancouver Island 15 years ago, growing has been stress free.
And glad to see dispensaries around the city of Toronto, so I got weed when I visit family.

Ya I was pretty tight lipped in those days. I NEVER showed anyone my grow ever !
Never really spoke of it even though my buddies guessed every detail correctly....lol
Bad News:
The dispensaries in Toronto are all legal hypocrit jailer weed stores now.
Good News:
Still tons of local delivery of BM product though so all is good. Great deals abound now a days.
Cut throat everywhere.

Hey AquaTerra
Why does all BC weed look so compressed. Like into rock hard nugs. With no definition at all. Just a hard lump.
Is it from the vac sealing of these buds? Thought you might know why it all looks the same some what.

Probably from transport to get more in to the cargo vehicle. Most people that I know only vacuum seal them if they are gonna store it other wise they use Zip Zap bags

Well they are doing something to it cuz it looks so processed. No naturally cured or dried bud looks like these hard balls.
I thought maybe you knew or sold vacuum sealers maybe.
The weed looks sucked down very hard.

A store owner told me yesterday that a real estate agent came in asking if they bought used equipment. He said he had 2 units near the airport that the Chinese walked away from. They left it all....equipment, supplies and crop.
The store owner told him the equipment and supplies has little value really as we all here know. Another example of the BM imploding.
My local store told me they have a lot of small to medium guys folding up. Said they weren't gonna stock as many large sizes anymore of stuff as they don't sell. Smaller sizes for home guys more. As I suspected it's getting tougher for them too. Less glee around there as compared to 2 years ago.

it doesnt help that the lights we have now...they need nothing to run for 10 to 15 years. No bulbs. One time purchase.

I have 3 ushios for my 1000 HPS gathering dust myself. Better than a mars door stop but more in the way.

It is pretty shitty though. If it all ends up online the consumer will suffer. I love going to Indoor Farmer!!
