Soil Containers

Hello,

1) Does any one have any thoughts on the difference between the fabric phat sacks, or the ultra oxy pots?

2) My growing space is 48" x 20" inside with a screen. Can I put my seedlings straight into a 5gall container, or should I work up from 3 gallon?

3) In this space, four three gallons and Scrog or 2/3 five gallon and scrog?

Never used ultra oxy pots.
Have used Smart pots for a few yrs now, love them.

I would gradually work up to a 5 gallon, seedling to one gallon, then one gallon to a five if that is what you choose to use. Fabric pots grow big plants. You may be able to get away with 3 gallon pots and I don't think you will need 4 plant, I would think 3 three gallon pots.

I've always used the cheap 5 gallon nursery pots. Never had a problem.

Thanks, How would I know when to switch out from a one gallon to a three gallon? I've never used fabric pots before but I like the idea, is it just as easy to transplant in to a larger pot?

oxy's are great, very easy to transplant, just unscrew and unroll pot.

I would go from solo cups to one gal to 3
I grow in coco, and thats how I would do it.
Good thing about fabric is they auto prune the roots.

They make and I use 1 gal fabric transplanter pots. Much more easy to transplant to the 3 gal and get a head start on root mass

I must mention that I grow in 2 gal smart pots and go from solos to the two gal.
When I grew in the 3 gal I did the above. Just don't let the plants get rootbound in the one gallon, keep an eye on the roots.

@gr865 this is great, sound, practicle and reasonable advice. You get a gold star. Too often people advise in the use of containers far too large for the space and size of the plants being grown. Amazing what you can get from a 2 gal smart pot and a healthy root system. I go solo cup, 5x5x6 square pot and flower in 2-3 gal pots. I leave the plant in the solo and square as long as i can to try to fill the entire container with roots. I also score the roots with a scalpel when i transplant. This will promote even more root growth. If the plant and roots are healthy, you wont even notice. When i disect a root ball i find each container the plant was in in the form of a dense fiborous ball of roots. Pretty cool.
