Soil importance

So just got done with my first (not 1ft tall plants under a cfl in a box lol)legit grow and of course being the first grow, I was on a budget and went with miracle grow african violet potting soil and the other half was miracle grow organic(big deals at lowes), in 5 gallon pots everything went well never had a overwater or underwater good drainage, but while visiting the hydroponic store i noticed the fox farm soils were like $20 a bag are these really worth the price

I don't like FF soils, some have great luck with it...personally i think its dog shit! You can make a similar soil on the cheap. Buy a bag of Fox Farms Marine Cuisine fertilizer and add it to a soil like Black Gold or Sunshine Mix #4. The FF MC is just about the same amendment they put in their FFOF soils.
