to start your grow just use some starting soil since your plant wont need any nutrients for the first 3-4 weeks and yes it is good to mix perlite in your soil for good drainage you've probably seen perlite before it's the little white pebbles in soil mix at wal=mart or k-mart etc.!
 
you can pretty much just go to a store and pick up any bag of soil, but dont get any thing that feeds the plants by its self, and try to get somthing that has perlite in it or just pick up a bag of perlite and mix some in your self, good luck
 
just mix it in so your soil has little white specs through it so it will have air pockets in the soil (use your judgement
