Soil & Nutrient Help Needed

Hello all,

I was wondering if I could get some help/guidance/advice on soil and nutrients. I am still pretty new to all of this, starting my second grow in a couple of weeks. I was hoping to go organic for this grow. I planned on using a couple of home made concoctions for nutrients that I found recipes for online. I don't have them handy, but will post later. Anyways, can anyone shed some light on this for me?

:peace:

Well....what is your question?

Did you know this will grow in just about any situation?

Did you know that Yield is Watts, not food details?

I mix up a teaspoon of Sea Grow in 5 gal of water.
That's organic.

If you intend to grow with an internet receipt, you can tell us how that goes.

But, I know everyone wants to be doing it "right."

To me there is only Yield, only more yield is right. And that takes your experiments, in your Situation,
Location and Funds.

The RIU community seems to be a much more hostile place than the last time I was here.

I apologize for not clarifying more. I will be growing indoors in an enclosure in my basement. I was really just looking for soil+nutrient combinations that worked well for all of you.

So, you call plain talk with someone you don't know, hostility? Well, that's on you. No hostility here.

I am trying to help you. If you have been here before, then why don't you know that there is no such thing as "works for all of you?"

It is all about you and your specific questions which you still have not asked. I have tried it all.

So, knock off the passive aggressive and say what it is you want. I'm telling it will grow in anything.

Are you just not willing to believe that? Hey if you want a throw away answer, since you provide no details, even when I ask...and you would rather whine about it......

Fox Farms. What ever. You seem like you need more help than that, is all.

I understand that it will grow in anything. I've grown before and used some generic walmart potting soil and had a pretty decent outcome. I was going to try a super soil recipe but I have a limited amount of space and read a few times that the super soil is better off for bigger pots, the bigger the better. I am growing in a 4x4x5 enclosure, so I eliminated that as an option. Do you know of any alternatives? Would I be better off just using some store-bought shit?

As far as the nutrients go, my first time through I only used fish emulsion during veg and a little big bloom during flower, but I was hoping to delve further into nutrients and try to give this next run more. I read a little about NFTG and it sounds pretty good. What's your preference for nutrients?

  • Made a decision!

    The soil blend will be:
    1 Bag FF Ocean Forest
    1 Bag FF Light Warrior
    3-4 tbsb Dolomite Lime
    25% Perlite

The nutrients that I've decided to use are:
    Veg - Jack's Classic All Purpose 20-20-20
    Flower - Jack's Classic Bloom Booster 10-30-20

I'll also be using some organic teas to feed the soil and adding some sugar and molasses towards the end of flower to try to bulk up the buds.

What do you guys think about this?

FINALLY!

At last, after many failed attempts to get the order in I have finally successfully ordered my seeds from Nirvana and received a shipping confirmation. I ended up ordering 5 feminized Blue Mystic seeds and 5 feminized Bubbleicious Autoflower seeds, plus they threw in 10 mixed seeds as an extra goodie, which makes me a happy camper. They should be here in the next week or two.

My enclosure is just about finished, but I am considering adding a layer of mylar to the entire inside of it, or using an emergency blanket to accomplish the same thing. Any of you used an emergency blanket before? before?

During my waiting period, I've been reading about a bunch of new techniques that I plan to try this grow. I'm feeling pretty comfortable with the SCROG method, and I plan to use UB's Topping method as well. As far as I've read, you can cut above the second node to get 4 big colas, or above the first true node to get 2 colas. I'm probably going to do 4 on one plant and two on the other to see which one produces more. I will try my best to situate the colas directly under my sets of lights so they receive the best light, then I will fill the rest of the screen out with all other branches. Should work out pretty nicely.

As of right now, I plan to start feeding them around 3 or 4 weeks @ 1/8 or 1/4 strength and see how they react, then I'll make adjustments as needed. I do have one other question, when I make the switch from veg to flower, is it wise to do a flush for a week or so before starting the bloom booster? Or is there another good way to transition into the flowering nutes without stressing the plant too much? Thanks for any advice!
