Southeast Ohio Hyrdro Store???

Crazy, crazy idea that might workout. Been looking for work for over a year and getting frustrated. I need to get work on many different levels and for several reasons.

I drive over 100 miles one way to visit the nearest hydroponics store to get my supplies that I don't want to pay shipping on such as nutrients, ph up, down etc. in gallon jugs.

The short of it.... What's everyone's thoughts about opening a hydro store. Specifically those growers within the immediate area... Would you prefer to get your supplies more locally or continue to drive over 3 hours roundtrip?

Anyone who has made the plunge and opened a hydro store your comments are welcome.

Since being out of work I have learned to grow a lot and have grown a lot, but not wanting to grow for profit. So a hydro store is a legal front to promote indoor growing, enjoy what I like to do and make a living at it.

I have many ideas for a store but trying to make the leap of faith that it can work is tough when your low on cash and credit.

I'd love to hear some ideas, pros, cons, etc.

I would first get every bodies opinion on a store in your area, talk to a few people about it , sounds like a good idea . I know I should would like to go to the store to get the things to grow indoor rather to have it shipped

Tomorrow I'm meeting with a guy to pick his brain as much as he will allow me. He quit his job and opened a hydro store about 6 months ago and said he is doing very well at it. He is about an hour and a half drive away, but well worth it for the info I can pick up.

Do you know of kissed by the sun hydro store in SE Ohio? I'd rather go to KY than buy there, mainly because you have to pry information out of the owner and he thinks his shit doesn't smell? Thats the impression i got, but he did seem REAL friendly to the guys i kept seeing come in with co2 tanks and dropping 600+ each visit. Plus he told me I don't need to calibrate my ph meter with 4.01, ONLY use 7.01 haha then why the hell does my meter tell me to put it in 4.0? lmao

No, I haven't heard of Kissed by the Sun hydro store. If you are going to Kentucky then I'd say you are in southwest Ohio towards Cincy.

I'm closer to West by God Virginia and Pittsburgh, PA than Kentucky/Indiana.

Not all ph meters need to be calibrated with both 4.01 and 7.01. Even if yours asks for both calibration systems, you can do one calibration and it should still be good to go. Having both as a two-point calibration is overkill unless you've been having problems with the meter.

i've gone to dayton hydroponics a few times, not to impressive but they have most everything you need
Columbus = 4 hour round trip drive.

Dayton = who cares - not going.

That's my point there are no hydro stores within 2 hours of where I'm at.

I can meet a need of the area and have a job that I like and support my family again.

I don't want to buy hydro supplies.... I WANT TO SELL THEM.

I met with the indoor grow store owner yesterday to see if I wanted to and if it is feasible for me to open my own grow supply store.

Anyone interested about the meeting?

Bump

Serious about opening the store and maybe working out some good deals and service to RIU members. Who knows?

You get it open yet? I'm always looking for new spots to check out. I don't really care for the hydro store near me, if you're not droping $500-$600 a trip they won't even look you in the eye. But they're close (North Lima) and I can use cash so no paper trail.
