So, a bad spidermite problem in my bloom room (2 X 1000 + 2 x 600, 10' x 14'). Decided to try the CO2 method. Did all the prep work in order to maintain maximum seal.
My CO2 controller goes to 20000(need to change settings, but it will do it), so I set that, ran a 20# bottle to 15scfm for 1 hour(got the room to 5000ppm co2), before supplementing with another 20# releasing without a regulator, just free release. At this point you did read correctly, I have an SCBA, so it was handled safely. I got the level to about 11,000 within 20 mins when I re-entered the room.
From here I kept the levels about 12k-15k ppm CO2 for the next 2 hours. I checked inside about every 20 - 40 mins, and although the mites slowed down a little, most did not die, even with sustained levels, and at some points I took the bottle and aimed it directly at them for about a minute. At the end of three hours, no results.
Is there anything I am missing to this method. No online guide seems to have had first-hand experience inside while this is going on, so I was wondering if i did something wrong, if there is something I can do to increase the chances they will be affected by co2? Spraying them with coco wet or other wetting agents(close to end of bloom)?
I have no problem going in during toxic co2 levels (have safety equip), just wondering how to make this work, if its even works at all. Better off sulphur burning?
