Spindly top?

The top of my plant is very spindly and there does not to appear to be much of a top cola growing. By spindly of course I mean that the leaves are very thin and not growing in any uniform direction. What would cause this? Is it because it is growing close to the light and there is a higher temp, nutes, genetics? Has anyone else who has grown a primarily sativa hybrid experienced this? Insight would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry a little more info probably would help...I'm in past four weeks of flowering an Astroqueen female. Am currently using foxfarms nutes.

4 weeks isn't enough time, it may take 12 weeks being a sativa dom plant. if its still spindly at 8 weeks then it may be concern. Also sativa dominant strains tend to take a while to get buds growing and when they do they are somewhat less dense than the indica dominant type would be. They are still potent.

I had this same issue. The end of the tops started growing really fast, very stemmy, very thin leaves, very few flowers. I had a number of clones all from the same mother, they all did the same thing. Some were in pots outdoors, some were hydro indoors. It was hybrid. On some of them I pinched off the top to see what happened and then spindly stems started growing out of the bud. I wonder what would happen if I cut off the whole top, would the other branches start doing it? Actually some of them did do that but less so as you went down the branches. I think it's just bad genetics, but I'm no expert.
