Hi all, put in 4 seeds on saturday 3 have sprouted, do i still keep them in the dark or give them light right away? also do i keep them in the humidity dome? thanks
you should have the light on even before they sprout. i also never use a humidity dome. this stuff is a weed remember, not a baby that needs to be coddled.
Seeds will need light for photosynthesis as soon as they germinate. Not before. The only two things seeds need are moisture and bottom heat. The thing with adding light is it may dry out your soil if you aren't paying attention.
are you asking "is it ok for the sun to be out?" The seed isn't getting any light if it's underground anyway. It won't hurt it as long as the top of the soil does not dry out. You don't really need "bottom heat" either as that never occurs in nature.

what didnt u understand by dannyboy's comment.....if placed on a heated mat the heat will thus rise up and increase said heat in said soil...u obviously have never have used a dome or a heat mat before

A challenge? What didn't you understand about my reply? He said the heating mat raises the soil temp to 70F, what's his grow room ambient temp, 60F? He also said quote "It speeds up germination by a few days." In my experience I can easily germ most seeds in 2-3 days WITHOUT an unnatural heating mat. So what is he decreasing that to, -1 days? You're right, I have never used a dome or heat mat, and never will, because it's unnecessary.
not really a challenge but i would love to see you germinate a bean in under 48 hrs.....that wud be thoroughly impressive, shit i would take pointers if u got the shell to pop in that time....and im sure all these new growers would love to see that too
