Stealth box. Cfl. Need advice

So I got a 3 drawer chest from a neighbor that moved. And decided I would make a stealth box like some of the ones I've seen from Google images. My old box was osb 4x2x2. Had it in garage. I liked it, but it was to obvious or maybe it was my paranoid acting up. So chest was 3 drawer which seemed small. So I had couple old book shelfs, I cut 8" wide boards to add onto the chest depth. And 8" to extend height. I also had add to my door and I got add more onto drawers. So this box is pieced together. Cause don't want spend any more cash. Lol

When I complete it. It will have 8 cfl in the plug in type socket. 3 cfl on light fixture with adjustable rope, with adjustable plexiglass, 4" intake, 6" exhaust on dimmer switch. (Air hockey table fan), with scrubber. I will be sanding it, and painting black.

1. I ran into a few problems. One, I put my outlets to close to the walls. I have that mylar from lowes. Will cfl burn the Mylar if it's to close? Have a quarter inch from touching wall.

If it will burn. Would putting plexiglass on the wall by bulb be ok?

2. What's a good hinge to use? I'm using the big hinges for like outside storage building doors. But it's big and sticks out a lot. I want something that mounts on the inside to be hidden.

3. What's Best way to vent exhaust from the box. It being a stealth box that will be air tight. How would you let exhaust air out where someone wouldn't feel air blowing out some where?
My ideal is to drill few 1/4" holes and mount a wicker basket to top of the holes so air can escape.

4. I'm more concerned about safety this time. So I added a surge proctors and I have everything grounded. Will surge protector prevent a fire? I have been using fire block silent. Wil be mounting a smoke detector.

Hey man looks nice, first the cfls put out so little heat you could probably have them touching the mylar and you'd be okay about hinges I have no clue, can't really help you there. Your wicker basket exhaust idea may work but a direct exhaust like out a window or something would probably be better, and yea the surge protecter will definitely help prevent any kind of electrical fire or electrical problems but of course shit can still happen, that fire alarm is a good idea though. I wish you luck on your grow

So I have decided on my door I'm going use some metal dowels. Put one on bottom and top let door swing out on those. So that will eliminate the hinge sticking out. I'll keep you guys posted. Hoping to complete the rest today after work.

Are you going to do a grow journal? I want to see how this progresses

I would like to do that. I just get paranoid incriminating myself with pics on web. What's best way to upload pics?
Probably through your phone, and yea I get you, really its not like your gonna get arrested, if you live in the states its legal in certain states so your living in colorado/ from Colorado to any cops lol

With such a small grow , the PO-PO have bigger fish to fry.
For VEG - use 5000k / 6400k bulbs ( ECOSMART - Feint Electric )
Called " Daylight " bulbs
Available Home Depot / even Big Lot ! ( even 99¢ store )

Bloom - 2700k
You can also run a mixed spectrum of bulbs.

These are 150w ( 2650 lumen ) I bought at 99¢ for 59¢ each !!!!

those are only 150 equivalent not actual 150's more like 30

These run @ 46w actual but put out " equivalent " of 150w bulbs WITHOUT the same power draw. These work flawlessly for my setup. IF THEY DIDNT WORK I WOULDNT PASS THE INFO .... (Smh ) ...They will produce regardless of what anyone says.

My advice: Go LED.

Area 51 90w would rock that cab if you can spare an extra $170 or so. Stealthy, efficient, safe and effective.

So I decided to go with led. Box is done with one coat of paint on it now. Going do one more coat, and then I'm thinking of doing some polyurethaneon. And I need seals for door. I bought some and for some reason I tossed them in the trash. Cause I left them in the bag, my wife threw papers in it, so it ended up in the trash.
But I did a lot of remake then from 1st pics. I put my fan in a box hung by bungee. Ran exhaust through the top then out the bottom. Door has cam lock. When I tried it out the first time, the locking end got hung on a screw head. so I had to pry the door open. Which broke the bottom hing from the wood. Luckily I found a brace that I was able to repair it without making a new door. Lights out I have few light leaks. But when I change seals out, I'll fix that.

But here are few pic.

The front and back. Added a cam lock.
