Stealth Grow Box 16" by 16" by 21"

Heyy guys,
I am making a stealth grow box and need some help with lighting. I have grown CFL and HPS lights before and wanted to try something new and maybe go with LED. I looked at some places and i think i have a height issue if i go with LED if they contain the IR and UV. I looked at some lights on Amazon and some lower watts LED do not seem to have them unless i specifically ask for them. So my box is 1.77 sq ft if i did my math correct. I saw that 100w LED should be good for a 2 sq ft. i also saw some reccomendations that 300w LED (actual wattage was 160 i believe) can be run in a 2' by 2' or a 3' by 3' area. I want to get this setup perfect and try to get the most wattage in the box as i can. Does anyone have any experience on small LED grow boxes? My box measures 16'' by 16'' by 21''
Thanks in advanced

Will post pictures a little later

This is what I currently have. I am going to mount 2 or 3 computer fans on the top. 1 or 2 out and 1 in with small Carbon pouches on the ones blowing out. Walls will be painted white abviously and a net will be placed inside

To put this in most simpiliest terms: you need a bigger box, if youre just using this box for like clone/veg then its fine, but if you intend to flower in this box you're going to be dissapointed AF, my clone/early veg cab uses 36w full spectrum w/ IR&UV at 18" above canopy, most important thing is to get good quality LEDs, yes you will spend a pretty penny on them, but i gaurentee if the 300w light you were looking at costs less than 300$ it will cook your plants- do yourself a favor and spend a little more upfront, otherwise youll regret it. also pc fans arent gonna cut it if you restrict them with carbon pouches, the moment you put that pouch infront of the fan the CFM will be cut in half if not more, youd honestly be better off getting like a 2x2x5 grow tent with a 4inch carbon filter+centrifugal fan, and then you could use a 300w LED without burning plants up, pretty sure you can find kits will all that included for around 400$ which aint that bad

heres one i found with a simple google search, it has hps light included not LED, there are LED packages available though i promise:

You have some options:

Cheap Chinese blurple, it is 140W actual draw, reds and blues are individually dimmable, $88 free shipping IIRC

TastyLED.com, you can e-mail Kevin any questions you have, super helpful. They offer individual light engines, Vero29SE, all plu-n-play, no soldering. Just one COB would bring great results, if you used a 4000K for veg and then replaced it with a 3000K for flower you could get some really good results, @~35-70W.

DIY will take a bit more effort, you'll save some cash in the long run. You might spend $100 on a single COB setup, $200 on two if they are preassembled engines. RapidLED has all of the pieces and parts to build, DigiKey is another one I've heard of.

Well i am not looking to get ounces at a time. Due to certain situations i cannot have a big tent in my house. I would love to have my room back again but its not possible. I can go with just reg CFL if LED are not a good option. I am kinda stuck on 50/50 here. Anyone have any other thoughts...

Your right on the computer fans i just wired one up and it really doesnt have much balls. its not a big setup so i am sure they wont smell that bad but just really cant afford to make any errors on stealth wise cuz i get uninvited guests over sometimes

People have used two axial fans stacked inline with the pencil holder filter successfully.

I'm gonna be straight up like everyone else, you box is definitely on the small size, leds will help your Grow situation over cfl in the heat aspect. You could also only use clones which will help put you right into flowering mode and you'll also save time over vegging. If that isn't an option you'll need to research some small height bush plants. As far as fans go, 2 inline 4" would be more than enough and for your space. It's not an impossible Grow, but you'll definitely have a small crop growing like this. Keep us posted with pictures.

Bridgelux EB series 280mm 3000k LED Strips. Run 9 of those at 350ma, with the Meanwell HLG-60H-C350B driver. At that amperage each strip will pull 7.7 watts, at 156 lumens per watt, generating an astounding 10,810 lumens in that area. All the while, drawing a mere 70 watts from the wall.
The strips are about $5 each, the driver less than $40.

Alright thank you guys for all your opinions. I am going to try the dimmable 300w Led actual wattage 140w. If the box end up being way to small i can always switch lighting to cfls and make a similar bigger box. This is more a fun experiment so not too worried if it fails just going to try push some limits.

I ran the numbers, you won't be pushing any limits with those Amazon lights.

I went with Vero29s instead for my space, they should be here tomorrow.

Those EB strips are the next project.

No, I don't plan on starting one.

I purchased a 3000K and 4000K for testing, if they do what they say they do on paper I'll probably double down, then I might do a journal.
