DO NOT PANIC. A seedlings purple stem doesn’t necessarily indicate an unhealthy plant. Please take the following possibilities into consideration:

1 - Purple Stems could be a result of that wonderful thing we call genetics, if this is the reason, you are to expect a purple stem throughout the life of the plant. It must be noted that purple stems aren’t a dominant trait, and are rarely genetically induced.

2 - A baby sprout with a purple stem is almost always 100% natural. Young seedlings are still adjusting to their environment and may be slightly lacking in a Nutrient. If this is the case, healthy plants will regain their green/greenish-brown color within a few days to a week or two.

3 - If you have ruled out the possibilities of genetics and the seedlings adjustments to life, you should begin looking for a nutrient deficiency. Purple stems are commonly caused by a Phosphorous (P) or Magnesium deficiency, if there is a P deficiency you may also notice symptoms such as brittle leaves or greyish spots. To assist the uptake of Phosphorous (as well as most other nutes) you should ensure the pH is slightly acidic-- 6.0 will suffice.

some strains just tend to do such things for no reason as it seems, other react in this why to stress caused by cold temps... get a thermometer up there with a high/low function so that you can check if there are temp drops during night/dark times;)

and normally such stress won't kill a plant, it would have to really freeze up totally to die, this will just slow it down a bit in grow rate, in worst case stop it until it worms up again in your grow. so nothing lost so far:)

so it could be those damn odd gens of your strain or you had a unnoticed themp drop few nights ago... what ever, you got now the cooles lookin plant on the block;)

maybe well i hope its just from the gen. but they were just from a really good sack i got. i usually just check on them during in the day after i get home so it could be the drop in temp at night im gonna check to see tonight and ill tell you if that could be the problem, also i can post some pics if anyone would like to see but i cant seem to be able to figure out how to post my pics on here. if someone could help me out with that it would be cool, i have JVC mini DV digital video cam. and i can get my pics on to my computer and get them to the quick reply box, but when they are in the quick reply box they are really big then when i post them they end up nothing but a little red X, any one know what i need to do?? thanks
