Strange new growth on clones

the clones looked great up until today when i checked on them and all the new growth just looked shriveled and unhealthy. its not a large root system and is only in milk jugs cut in half due to lack of resources at the time of transplant. They have a minor spider mite problem that will be gone in a day or 2. Any ideas what this could be? thanksIMG_20130331_092555.jpg

lack of water? magnesium deficiency? overheating? could be a variety of problems... Is the main stem turning purple?

shriveled is not enough water or to hot for plants no air movement and or to much fertilizer which is the one you tell us

It's because you sprayed your plant and put it back under the light, only spray after lights out, you can burn the plant.
