Started three plants from bagseed about 8 weeks ago now outdoors. moved them indoors and are now under 1 48W cfl (4800K) and 1 48W cfl (2700K) with a 9 inch fan circulating the air.

i went away for a few days and came home one one of the babies had shrivelled and died completely!

i now have 2 left. one is way smaller than the other considering the same conditions. i have no idea why?

the one that is taller and healthier has now started growing new leaves that are taco-ing.

i really have no idea what im doing, this is my first try, any help appreciated! whats wrong withe these things?!

im thinking maybe the pot is too small for the smaller plant as the bigger plant is in a bigger pot. but really, i have no idea!IMG_0952.jpgIMG_0948.jpgIMG_0949.jpgIMG_0950.jpgIMG_0951.jpgIMG_0947.jpg

That should take care of your issues just focus on new growth, generally the damaged areas on the leaves will not heal.

If those babies were human children Child Protective Services would be at your door right now.

I am going to encourage you to go a few steps further to properly care for them.

1.st Lighting not sufficient! Find CFL's in 6500K spectrum. Get at least 4 x 24 watt, min 100 watt per plant. If you can get a feliz 125 watt 6500K cfl blub and reflector with socket.

2.nd What kind of soil is that, is that wood clippings of some kind? But organic potting soil preferably Black Gold potting soil with the tomato on the bag

3.rd Get yourself a $15 digital PH water meter and a 3 gallon cloth pot and a gallon of distilled water. You will take water run offs and test them regularly.

4.th take the distilled water at room temp and flush your plant, that is when soil is dry. Use plenty of water you will have lots of run off, let her sit no food under light for a week.

5. Fill that 3 gallon cloth pot with the Black Gold potting soil, transplant your baby into it. You should not have to do anything at this point but provide light and water. Do not add any nutrients, the Black Gold potting soil with the tomato on the back has enough.

6. As she is resting, research research and research growing organically, specifically sub cool super soil recipe. For when your gal recovers and begins to grow and establish herself you'll want to place her in super soil before completing veg cycle and she will have all she needs to finish through flowering all the way to harvest.

7. Have patience these plants will grow and while your relaxing and want to see what yours could look like following this simple outline take a look at my journal discussion.

Your pots aren't the prob..It looks like you have compacted soil. I recommend that you get some perlite and mix with whatever soil you want 70% soil and 30% perlite. And it looks like you're using plain tap water, which is fine but you need to let it set out in an open container to disapate ther chlorine in it for at least 24 hours, cuz the chlorine will kill your plants..and get some cooler CFLs like 26w 6500k's and 14w 2700k's, the bigger one will be good when they grow a bit..and good luck man..

Hey man, you really need to quit plugging that soil of yours...are you getting kick backs for it, lol...and that passive hydro thing, some people like the KISS aproach...Keep It Simple Stupid...cuz they need to learn HOW to grow before they waste the money on a set-up that may or maynot work for them...

Interesting you tell him he need to add drainage materials to his soil, I basically said get a bag that I know already works. To me it seems like the KISS would apply to getting the right bag of soil in the first place. I don't know anyone yet that has wasted money on Black Gold potting soil or 5 gallon buckets.

But thanks for your input :blsmoke:

And I think as far as what works goes, my journal discussion clearly shows it does unless you can prove otherwise?

ok so ive made a few changes.

Got some pearlite and some general purpose potting mix (non-fertilized). i took the plans out of the pots and lightly shook the root balls to get excess old potting mix off.
ive replanted them in a mix of 70% potting mix, 30% pearlite.

i picked up a water ph test kit with ph up and down from a pet store, meant for fish tanks i think haha. used boiled and cooled tap water and ph'd it down to ~6.3 to water the soil into their new pots.

picked up a soil ph meter too and they both seem to be at about 6.8 soil ph.

go myself a 500ml hand spray bottle as well so i wont over water. when i do water them, how much should i be watering? till i get water coming out the drainage holes in the bottom of the pots? is 6.3 the correct ph for my water? and is using pre-boiled and cooled water a good way to go?

this is how they sit now, no nutes added at all.

should i be able to get them back on track with these steps, is there anything else i should do? im thinking of flicking them to 18/6 lights now, would this be a bad idea? should i just leave them at 24hr until i see some improvement?
cheers.

This should be a sufficient remedy if it hasn`t gone too far guru. Watering for your first batch run it through until you see drainage, you want the ENTIRE medium to be wet. To avoid over-watering, weigh the soil after you`ve watered and also beforehand. I water when the top 2-3 inches are dry in my medium or I`ve come within 2-3 g`s of the dry weight. You also may just want to keep a resevoir for tap water as previously mentioned. The 24 hour wait willl dissapate the chlorine but will keep the micro nutrients of the tap water intact (Mg, S, Ca, etc.). A light GROW solution might be nice as well (quarter strength to start). I`d personally keep the lights on 24 hours if you can keep temp from exceeding 82-84F at any time until you see new growth. You can gauge accordingly after that most likely. Happy growing,

KC :weed:

**EDIT - Your PH of 6.8 for the soil is perfect. If you can maintain that without adding too much PH down (I don`t like the extra acids) you`ll be doing great **
