Sumpin' Ate My Trunk?

I have two clones in pots. One is doin' fine and the other suddenly went to "pot". It looks like something ate the outer layer of the trunk from the dirt all the way up and out one of the branches. I didn't see any stoned bugs around... does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

is it inside or outside, cause them critters love them some mj.. they prolly catch a buzz from eating it.

Do you have any pictures? All I can imagine is a shark bite taken out of a surfboard....

sounds strange. Not termites as they hollow the trunk from inside.

Nah, this one's weird....it's actually my buddie's plant. He bought two and kept them both in the bags they came in. They are about 12" clones and looked really healthy. He does have alot of snail and rollypollies (pillbugs). I just have never seen anything like this before. i pitched the plant but if you can imagine a tree with the bark stripped off this was the same thing. The whole plant was green (albeit dying) yet the trunk was brown and woody looking from the dirt up a few inches into one of the branches. Thanks for your input so far...happy smoking!
