SUN vs. HPS

Which is the best lighting source for growing big, tight, healthy buds?? Is it the sun or hps lighting?! :shock: In hawaii, our light cycles pretty much stays at 12/12 hours so I veg outside during the day and bring um inside at night to continue to veg indoor with a bunch of CFLs...I am keeping the plant in veg mode to keep it growing until it reaches a certain height and then flower outside and leave them outside at night to get the 12/12 light cycle. jus curious on people experiments with flowering with the sun vs flowering with HPS lights..

This is a back and fourth argument. People who grow inside will say quality wise, outdoors could never compare. My fellow guerilla growers will agree that outside, the plant can grow to its maximum....everything, the sun is limitless, lights and ceilings however are not. I beleive the quality of indoors are better but the quantity of outdoors far exceeds this....unless you veg your plant for like 5 months....then i look like an asshole in that last statement...if we were talking full term (only 4 months)

i was thinking the same thing about how the quality would be better indoors ... i have a 3month old mother in a 5gal which is 3ft tall already. took 2 clones already and will be taking more soon...mother plant was germinated from seed dec. 31 2010. I think after i take enough clones i will flower her.

Sun will win everytime, color is better, brightness is more without being harsh enough to burn the plants. The downside of the sun is outdoors, bugs, disease, rain, hail etc..... That is why most of us have an indoor grow, we can control everything even if we lose the benifits of the sun. Well that and the neighbors wouldn't look fondly on my plants.

Check in the Hawaii thread... many fellow growers there veg indoors for a month or month and a half, then put it out to finish.

I think its a pain in the butt to keep moving back and forth with a plant..
why dont you just give them 18/6 with that bunch of cfl's and after a month, put it outside to flower and finish..

where i live we have 12/12 all year long too..right now im on my first grow...im doing it outdoors from start to finish...but one day, i dont know in which grow ima do it..i will veg my plants for a month or month an a half indoors..then move them out to flower...

Thats what alot of people do, including myself. The question is full term inside or out which is better

outdoor quality trumps indoor quality, for sure.
it all depends on the grower,strain,climate, there are so many variables, i've had outdoor bud that compares to or even exceeds the quality of some indoor, but at the same time i think that indoor is consistantly better, not to mention what Trueno said about the hazards of growing outdoors.

yup its exactly what im doing...put her outside to flower! for veggin i bring them in at night and keep them under the CFL's till morning so 24/0....is 18/6 better?

Waters- I've recently grown CC Deadhead OG outdoors probably not far from your house and then grew out the clones of the same plants indoors under the best 1000w HPS system I could buy.......no fucking comparison...we got the best sun in the world ...USE IT!!!

i got a question to other growers, if one vegges a plant just like his mother, is it worth it to flower it outside if its 12/12 ?

i have to add one thing to this

the sun happens to be just the right distance to earth to help our plants/animal/us live. you might come across more challenges with outdoor, but natural lighting cant be better in the sun light.

sun= god

This would never work. The greenhouse would get too hot and need constant venting of the hot air, so the co2 would be a waste.
