I recently got myself a DS150 5x5 tent with a 1000w setup. Thing is, the shop manager recently got a bunch of Sunleaves Viper 6's, and I, having never seen this hood before, (and not reading the fine text on the box) figured that for a particular bulb size, there'd be an "appropriately" sized hood to go with it (something around 20"x21" for a 1000w for example), but this reflector can use up to a 1k bulb, and doesn't have a hood size larger than 20"x14 3/4" for it. No larger than 6" flanges either
Is this odd, or is it just me? It's a nice reflector, but I thought that ideally at least a 20" width on the hood is necessary for a proper 1000w light footprint with this style reflector. As well as an 8" flange.
What I can't tell is if I should bring this f*cker back and get something wider, or if this'll be adequate for a 5x5. Anybody's 2 cents would be cool.
I have a 6" reducer I can attach and easily cool the hood, but will I be missing out on much of a larger yield without the extra 8 or so inches in hood width?
Or will the lumen spread be more concentrated in the center of the room, giving bigger tops (scrog to be, by the way) in the center, and shorter, weaker ones on the outside, thus making only a minute difference in yield?
Thanks for your input RIU
