Super Soil Grow - Sage n' Sour, Blue Cheese, Pure Power Plant, White Widow x OG Kush

What's up everybody. Back to showcase a new grow I've got going on. This time around I've decided to give SubCool's Super Soil a try. Mixed it a little over a month back and it's been cooking in the backyard getting ready to do it's magic. Super exicted to see what kinda results are possible going the organic route. For awhile now I've been into hydro, sticking with the advanced nutrients lineup, but I've decided I'm looking to take it to the next level and get some high quality organic bud.

Current setup I'm running a 600 MH in a 6" air cooled Raptor reflector, active intake and 24/7 odor scrubbing provided via carbon scrubber. My ladies are currently in 2 gallon pots with 70% Fox Farm Ocean Forest and 30% Super Soil. They've been vegging a little over a month now, started from seed. They'll be transplanted into 5 gallon buckets in another week or so. Just switched them to bloom last night, I have a good 8' clearance in my tent and I figure some of these girls are gonna be finishing around the 6' mark. I'm gonna run the MH for another 2 weeks before I switch it out for the HPS.

Onto the strains! I've got 4 different strains going, Sage n' Sour, Blue Cheese, Pure Power Plant, and a White Widow x OG Kush. Really excited about the Blue Cheese and the Sage n' Sour, have heard nothing but good stuff regarding both. No burn whatsoever going on, these ladies are straight diggin their environment.

what dd u use in your mix with the super soil as everyone put there own touch to itbut sub in keep it green!!! JB

I ending up running a half batch of the recipie. So 4 bags fox farm ocean forest, 15 lbs worm castings, 3 lbs bat guano, 2 1/2 lbs bone meal, 2 1/2 lbs blood meal, and a touch of epsom salt. There are a few other ingredients that I ended up not adding but all in all I think it's a pretty dynamite mix and so far so good!

Here's a few more pics for everybody. Getting close to transplanting them into their final 5 gallon bucket homes. Gonna be a pain in the ass to do but it's gotta be done! Don't want my girls getting rootbound. A little side note, I'll also be using Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy to put on some extra weight, I've had great results with it in the past. Temps are running at a nice 75 degrees. Should be switching out the MH for the HPS in about a week. Any thoughts on switching back to MH for the last couple weeks of the grow? I've read pros and cons for each but nothing concrete in the way of better results. I'd like to hear other people's opinions? I've read that switching back to MH for the last couple weeks will give you stickier, tighter buds, I'm thinking it would be a fun little experiment to try it out but I don't wanna necessarily shortchange my ladies by giving them less lumens when they need it the most. What's everyone think?

I can't speak highly enough about this raptor reflector. All eight of my ladies fit perfectly under it and they're all in 2 gallon pots! And since it's air cooled, I can get it like 5 inches away from the tops without any heat stress whatsoever.

Hey everybody, back with some more pics. Broke out the fisheye lens, hope you like! Anyway, just switched out the MH for the HPS as you can see, these babies are getting big. The largest two measure 30 inches. I'm debating whether to tie the main colas down so I can keep the height at a resonable level. I have more space to work with and the reflector is air cooled, I just don't want the main colas getting too tall and suffering from heat stress. Other option would be to move them outside and let them do their thang, they're just doing so well inside that I don't wanna risk losing a plant to pests and whatnot. Anyone have good luck with tying a plant down? I know if I do that the secondary arms are gonna love it, I just don't wanna affect yield too much by limiting the growth of the main cola. Suggestions?

For future reference just main line it to keep short snd pretty much pick where you want it to grow. Thanks to mycomaster on here I learned this technique. I hsve some shorties in veg that are 2 months old and not a foot yet ! I hear they benefit from longer veg times so heck ya why not lol plus I grow so many strains and its nice to keep a good random selection. Ususlly whenever they hit 2-3 foot I throw them in the flower room and say hello to stretch.

They look great too btw. Love the hood too, I own the Magnum xxl which is pretty simular.

News update. Took the two largest ladies and put em in their new home in the great outdoors, they're gonna remain in their 5 gallon pots for the entirety of the grow. I believe I'm gonna be giving them some big bud and bud candy to bulk em up a bit. They're already 3 feet tall so I figure they'll be finishing around the 5-6 foot mark, it's gonna be rad! The other ladies are doing great, smaller, but loving life. Pics to follow soon!

Whats everyone's opinion on the big bud and bud candy? I've read that subcool himself grows with just water and bud candy. That being said, I don't necessarily want to jeopardize the pure organic nature of the girls I'm growing, but I am quite curious to see the benefits to be had from using these boosters. Let me know what you guys think!

Here's a couple more pics, they're a couple weeks into flower now. Just gave em a nice good watering, first one since their transplant, they seem to be doing just fine. I'm starting to get a tiny bit of leaf curl but no yellowing or any other signs of stress. When I did the transplant, I filled the buckets about halfway with supersoil, then stuck an upended 3 gallon pot in there and filled around it so when I took the ladies out of their 3 gallon homes they fit perfectly into the new 5 gallon buckets. Worked like a charm! After that I topdressed with supersoil. I'm hoping that they can handle the extra amount of supersoil. I know subcool says use up to half the bucket straight supersoil then buffer with regular organic soil. They were doing so well in their 3 gallon homes that had about 30% supersoil that I figured they could handle the jump to mostly supersoil and less straight up soil. Only time will tell, but I think they're gonna do great! Gotta love that golden HPS glow.

Back again, this time I've got some bud shots for everybody. They're coming along nicely, budin up real good. I'm looking at a late july early august harvest date. I've decided not to go with the bud candy and big bud, I'm gonna keep it straight organic. They seem to be lovin their heavily supersoiled homes, no worries! I did give em a nice lollipopping this morning, got rid of all the small popcorn in the hopes that all the tops will get that extra energy. Day 22 of flower, pics were taken yesterday evening before the dark. I'm gonna try an take some pics tonight once they go into their dark cycle. The HPS really distorts just how green these ladies are. The Blue Cheese (4th pic in from the left) is by far my favorite, perfect bud structure, hopefully its gonna be a heavy yielder! That being said, I really have no idea what to expect in the next coming weeks since I've never done an organic grow before. They seem to be right on track though. I'm getting pumped!
