superthrive users

I am looking for some help with my clones. I have tride a couple methods now and still only have about a 15% success rate. I have decided to give superthrive a try. so my questions are:

Should I mix it to the ratio on the bottle?

Should I follier feed with it?

should use it on my other plants(veg, and flower)?

Be careful with superthrive, it is not the "end all" solution to plant problems.

Give us a shitload of detail on what, when, where, how on your clone process. We need info in order to give you info.

well first off i have been trying different strains so it must be something I'm doing wrong and not genetics.

Things I always do the same are:
I wear rubber gloves, I use a sterilzed razor and I cut the branch off at an angle. then cut the node off and recut the bottom on an angle about 1/4" below the node. and I use CFL's

The next steps have been different but with same bad results...

I have tried rootone powder,MG Fast root, and now using olivia's gel. and yes, I dipped the cuttings into water when using the powders and not when I used the gel

I have tried growing in dirt, and peat pellets

I have tried under a humidity dome and I am now using a dixie cup with a clear cup on top with holes in the top.

My water is well water with a PH of 6.7. I have also tried using root master b1 with the water a few times
My temps are about 80 degrees and my humidity is about 56-65 outside the domes. I give them air a couple times a day. and also spray them and the domes before i put them back on.

That is about all I can think of at the moment. I have been getting advice on my problem on a different thread of mine and the last bit I got a while ago was superthrive. so Smrt youy can understand why my question was so superthrive dirrect. I already tried so many other ways. I am on to this one. I have been starting cheapest to more expensive.

And also please no replies about buying a $200 self contained kits..... I can buy alot of seeds for much!

I've been there. Now I do much better.
Your close, everything sounds right, one thing to check is the rooting area temp. with the prob on the thermometer.
Ambient temps of 80° you could be heating the rootzone over 83° and thats no good. 84° and no roots. You want between 76 and 80°

I tried Olivias and no success, well very little. Did you know it has to be refrigerated after opening? I didnt. Rockwool is over rated and retains too much water. You got the dome and everything else now you need clonex rooting gel and rapid rooter cubes. Total cost about $30 split the cube down halfway, dip your cutting and place in the crack and close it up. about a half a shotglass of water on top and every other day. you will have roots in a week.

Check out my cabinet journal, not the dual cab the LED/T%/400W one. You will see what I am talking about.

Oh yea, superthrive, (forgot)
I've used it to clone with, one of those sprayer deals on a cycle timer, I used twice the amount so 2 drops per gallon. Some strains rooted but others didnt.

thanks cruzer, that will be my next expensive try.... i keep spending money with no results. I might have to get it online, my local hydro store wants $65 just for the 2 oz. clonex(that's why I opted for olivia's(only $17)). I will also try moving them to a cooler place. I didn't know about the 84°

I read an article on it and it said "this will root a popcicle stick" I tried it and thats all I use now.
$65 they are nuts. Heres a link you can get it for $17.95 GREENTREES

cruzer, I just read your thread... first 24 hours of clone should be in the dark... that is something I have not done at all. I will try that..and i will try the slicing up the middle of the stem also.

Dont go up too far, you dont want air in there, its best to make that cut under water, really thats not needed but it works.

i just tried the rapid rooter cubes, i got 100% success rate and rooted in just over a week, but make sure u take cruzers advie and get them wet every 2nd day, caz they can dry out quickly.

should be able to root with nothing for help to be honest. and get heat under the dome. the outer humidity dont matter. want to know what it is inside dome. higher than what i see above to, like 80%
i see you say now in cups with holes...no holes. want to keep humidity in there not out the holes. the peat pucks suk ass. try grodan cubes. most cant keep the stem in good contact with the rooting medium to be sucssesful...happened to me. now i use growdan and get100% all the time
and if you had an illness in them and reused the cloning powder or gell and dipped in the main bottle toss em. they whole bottle is contaminated now and will spread to anymore cuts. take a small amount out to use each time from a new bottle.
for a heat pad here i just keep my clone tray on top of my flouro lights. nice n warm. roots in 5 to 8 days, under the light takes up to 15 days.

if you want to use superthrive use at 1 to 2 drops per gal and soak wools in it. i also add up to 150 ppm of food to wool for a pre soak. mine dont yellow or droop ever, trim the tips of the leaves to help keep em green and not waste energy to keep those green. will send more energy to rooting.

I just did my first ever cloneing the other day , Took 6 cuttings ( was REALLY scared ... i had to make it work as i was flipping the mothers to flower ) to my total supprise all 6 THRIVED ...I was delighted ...Heres what i did .

I soaked the Cocopellets overnight in a 1 ltr mix of PH ballenced water ( 5.8 ) with 1mil of Rhizotonic and 1 mil of H2o2

Next day gave them a little squeeze to get rid of a bit of the water ( Not all ... they was still damp just not dripping wet

I put the wet empty Coco Pellets into half filled pots just to keep them from rolling around and then put them under the light in the propergator for a few hours prior to planting to get them up to temp , I then took the cutting's and used CloneX , I used a syringe and popped a little Gel in the holes i made in the Coco pellets and placed cuttings in , Misted them with PH ballenced (5.8 ) water and 1 mil of H2o2 .... Misted the dome with just PHed water

I cut a couple of straws up an squeezed them into the Coco ready to prop the cuttings up if need be ... and to my supprise i had zero wilting and they pushed the straws to the side after about 3 days .. it was all i could have hoped for and more :)

So my first Cloneing is a 100% sr :)

2 weeks on and they are showing a bit of yellowing on the old leaves but the new growth is very healthy .

So Super Thrive .... Ok I will admit ... I was taken by the ST label .... Normaly i can over look the " BUY ME " type things ... But i just needed to know for myself :)

I heard all the arguments for and against it ... seen all the mistakes people was making with it ( doing to much )... seen all the confusion over how much or how little to use and at what stage ... So i was aware of it all ... But still .. I need to know :)

Useing in Flower stage is a No No ( Slows growth ... or so im told ) so i decided to try it on my new clones , Hard to say if it had any effects really , Other than the day after i fed them they did look a bit more perked up ... So im gonna reserve my judgment on them unitil i do my next cloneing session and do a side by side study .. one with one without .

I really do have a feeling ( After reading all the Science of it ) that its just one of them products that makes YOU feel better rather than be of any real benifit to the plant ... With that said ... I'm not calling it Snake Oil just yet ... Time will tell :)

can post pics if needed .

Hope this helps a bit though :)

EDIT
... yes ...i forrgot to mention ... I also trimmed the lower fan leaves ... this sends a signal to the plant that stimulate root growth

Thank you all of you! I have taken everyones advice into consideration. I have had some success since I last posted..... My last 3 clones are living and doing well! of coarse i was a crazy idiot and i don't remember exactly what i did to those three!!! it's no problem... after reading all the replies I have tried two more last night, I'll keep my fingers crossed.. what I did this time was:
slit the stem up the middle about a 1/4"(all underwater of coarse) then i applied a nice amount of cloning gel(olivia's(not straight out of the bottle either)) and had placed them in regular soil( I was using my stoney soil and i think it may have been to hot) this time i used soil from my property(I've used it before it is safe) with NO nutes at all. I placed it in the soil and carefully smoothed the soil over the gel'd up stem. Then i used a 2-drop a gallon mix of superthrive and bottom watered the containers( a friend does this with great success). then I sprayed the tops with wilt-pruf. Put them in my old dome that I had success with months ago(don't know why i didn't go back to what I did before, DUH!) and i put the humidity meter inside the dome(sealed dome BTW) and it reads temp 76-79 and humid. is 82-88. I have great confidence in these two clones. downside I need a bigger dome, I can only fit two plants inside of it..... here is a photo for those interested...

One last question: is there such thing as using to much cloning gel? can I go with the "bigger the glob the better the job" catagory?

Sounds like you have it all working again ...Let me know how you get on this time with the split method

I hate to sound like a dick, lol but, I have to say this....if you're only getting a 15% success rate, Superthrive isn't going to help much, because something is drastically wrong with your procedure. Even if you used no additives, including rooting powder/gel, you should still be getting at least 75%, using just plain water to wet your medium. I think ya better work on your procedure first, before trying to fine-tune it.
