Swapping clones from coir to rockwool/pebbles urgent help needed!!

Im starting my 3rd grow and have usually gone straight from seed (female) into rockwool cubes then transplanted them into pots of hydro pebbles in a wilma drip system. But this time I have got female clones in mini coir pots. Can I take the clones out from the pots and put them in rockwool then when they are big enough place them in my final pebble pots? Or will the two different mediums not sync with my usuall 5.8-6.2 water nutrition feed? Any suggestions and advise would be of help

I never really done that kind of transplant. I've gone from hydro to soil with no problems. Also I don't think it's the medium in itself that will cause problems. Normally when your in a potting mix, the roots grab onto the medium really tightly forming a nice strong root ball. When new growers try to transplant when their potting mix is really wet, sometimes a lot of soil falls off, and it takes chucks of roots along with it. If you can slowly and gently agitate and tease the roots loose you should be okay. However since it's just mini coir pots (an inert medium), I'd really try to avoid all that headache and plant the whole coir container into your medium. I'd skip the whole rockwell step all together.

What was your reasoning for going into rockwool?

The only reason why I wanted to go into rockwool is because I didn't want the coir to block my drip system as over time I can imagine the medium gradually breaking down through the pebbles and finding it's way into the water reseviour. I might be panic thinking here as they are small pots. If it was you would you take the medium out from the pot then go into the pebbles or just put the pots straight in? Thanks for the reply

Better let someone who knows more about hydroponics DWC or bubblers chime in. I don't have enough experience with those types of setups. I would imagine all you would need is some kind of filter or screen in front of the drip line or below the roots. I don't believe coir breaks down that easily, so it should be fine.

the coir should stay together because the roots by the time you transplant to you pebble pot should keep it together. are you using hydroton pellets? those will be big enough that even if it dose break apart it will keep the the chunks together and roots will wrap around all the pellets and keep the whole mass in place under your plant

the plant doesn't really care where its roots grow, so long as they remaindark, mostly undisturbed and moist
