Swapping to LED for Summer

Currently run a 250w Hps in a 60x60x120cm tent

I want to change to LED for the hotter months ,

I want I think 300w although lots of 200w available ,

My budget is like Maxibright , Spider Farmer or Mars Hydro range ...

Would 200w be enough

I'm leaning toward 300w

Is this a good light ?

Tia.

If you're in the Mars ecosystem, that's a good fit.

Why are you "leaning toward 300w"?

300w is absolutely overkill, especially with that little headroom. 120 would be pretty standard in that space but always good to have a bit extra. Youll need some type of bar light to spread the light out over the space, a single board with that little head room is not a good fit. 30-40w per square foot is standard advice for leds. Wayback when leds were given fake wattages based on max spec of the diodes, nowadays its always wall draw which is more representative

It's 1m20cm tall.

250W HPS produces around 1.7 umol/W, so ~425 umol/s
Most of the LEDs produce ~2.5 umol/W, so with 180W you'd get pretty much same amount of light.

So look for LED that has around 450-600umol/s. which would be around 200W.

I'm worried from a 200w I won't get dense bud formations ?
That's partially genetic but light intensity, apparently, plays a role.

In a 60cm tent, the Vipar Spectra XS 1500 Pro is the cat's meow. You can shoehorn the Mars in a tent that size but you can't use all of the light that it generates, the Vipar (probably) has a better spectrum for a tent that size, the Mars has a better PPFD map, and it's ½ the price of the Mars.

I have ordered the SF2000 pro
I did see the VS but it's slightly bigger ,

I also looked at the Maxibright 200w pro but it's a very tight fit!

I use 40w sq/ft as a guide. You have basically 4 sq/ft. 4 x 40= 160w.

At that rate, a 160w, would be fine.
But one can buy a bit more powerful light, with dimming function, and wont run the light as hard. At that rate, 200w would work.
Just make sure the light has quality LED chips.

+1 for the XS1500 pro. It’s a great light to use in a 2x2. Whether or not you will need all 150w depends on genetics and/or feeding habits. There’s always the option to dim it, and you can extend the life of the driver at the same time.
Here’s on next to a BP 1500 by bloom plus in a 27” x 27” x 62” tent. IMG_6932.jpeg

Lots of fat tops in that harvest.
