t5 growers

its my first grow, ive had the light really close to my clones for a week with no burn, but now i see 1 is showing light burn. ive had the light on 24 hrs a day for 1 week it seems to be getting hotter,should i turn it off and switch to 18 / 6. i raised the light from 6'' to 24''. someone with experience help

A picture would help. I use 2 t5's for veg and mine are way closer than 6 inches, mine are about 2 and half inches off the tops and I have 0 problems.

i never heard of t5's burning plants it might be something else fert burn maybe,if u want to try 18/6 its no biggie to switch back and forth from 18/6 to 24 hr, as long as there in veg that is.

maybe ur right but i put my hand where the tips were and it was too hot. the new growth tips turned dead then lower leaves got gold spots. over the night after raising the light they seem better. it might be cause i sprayed heavy fert on them that they got burnt in the first place i also didnt water for 3 days the soil was hot from the light. why do you have the light so close, heresay?

if i were you i wouldn't spray anything on your plants especial when the lights are on, feeding them when u water is good enough you can have them a few feet away from the light

it is not possible to light burn plants with a t5. mine regularly grow into the bulb and as long as i raise the light within 4-5 hours the plant wont be damaged. so ya no way it's light burn.

are those clones rooted yet? new clones are delicate and don't need strong amounts of light. also it should never get hot under those lights. a small ocsilating fan is all thats needed to keep temps down to room temperature

never had an issue with light burn with my T5HO 6 bulb setup, and i tend to keep my seedlings within 6". id look into other issues that might look similar. some pics would help this.

I have been scouring the forums for T5 discussions. I have some for garden seed starting and wanted to know if people use them for indoor gardening from start to finish. What type of Lumens per square foot are people using? 7k to 10k per foot or less? Thanks for any insight you contribute.

you shouldnt spray nutes or any water on the plants while they are in direct light. It can cause burn spots like what you describing. Happened to me on my last grow.

i believe when all is said and done, my plants are actually receiving around 5k lumens per sq/ft. this is just a rough estimate though. my avatar is one of 3 bagseed plants i have that just started week 9 of flower. the actual goal is to get some 2700k bulbs for flower and swap em out, but i couldn't afford it this time around so iam stuck with the 6500k until next time. so far, its worked out great.

Thanks for the input. I am thinking of putting a 4/6 T5 in a 4x2 hydrohut. That would give me about 3750 lumens per sq/ft. As the lumens aren't enough, I might throw some LEDs in to illuminate the understory. I want to grow a few LR#2s.
