Take some Aspirin or Advil or Acetominophen and drink a lot of water, rest and don't think of taxes. You have 11 more months before facing them again.

Then get a job and/or an accountant, problem solved.

Actually I think this belongs in Black Briefcase. I think he's talking about how to pass illegal income off as taxable income. Maybe. I don't really know.

tax rates are at rather historic lows, actually.

and i know for a fact that you don't pay*sales taxes!
I'd like to see the current version. I do not really understand that chart. Was the tax rate really 94% in 1944? Also, check your facts; I live far enough into Clark county that I do my shopping there and pay sales tax, pay $4,500/yr in property taxes, and work in OR, where I pay income taxes. I pay taxes on all of the gas it takes to commute, my home phone, cable, cell, etc

Here's a quick reference for tax rates around the world. Surprisingly, the US is near the top.

I believe those were somewhat informal. cn
At least on this side of the ocean. Somehow I think our keeper's had some good records. We look to be assuming a similar position to those days.

.....snip..... Surprisingly, the US is near the top.
It takes a lot to support a black budget, provide security for the oil barons and payback the banksters for the coup........

cigarette taxes offset the negative externalities that those who smoke impose on society, those $0.42 taxes at the end of your phone bill are a joke, and dog license taxes? easy enough to circumvent those.

the inheritance tax only hits above a certain (rather large) threshold, it was put there by a dude on mt. rushmore to prevent oligarchy.

we get a lot of benefits from living in this society, taxes are the cost end of that cost-benefit arrangement. they are a fact of life, and they've been much worse.

and yes, there was a time when the top marginal tax rate was at 94%. we did a hell of a lot better as a nation (even the rich) when the top rate was at 70%.

Would like to smoke one with you and hear that out. I'm struggling to believe that Americans would be better off paying 70% of their income in taxes to a gov't that isn't doing a goddamn thing about our infrastructure, our homeless, our healthcare, our starving children, etc, while handing out Billions (and some cases trillions) to banks, and corporate CEOs, other countries (some who hate us), etc. We are giving all to the few who already have it all. I do not believe I am getting any benefit out of my taxes when I cannot afford healthcare, but I have to pay for some illegal who doesn't pay any taxes, the roads are tearing up the car that I am being taxed on (gas, parts, tags, etc), etc. Someone please explain why gas is $4 a gallon when the cost to produce it hasn't gone up proportionately; and the oil companies are making record profits every quarter. They cannot have record profits without charging waaaay more than the cost of production. The problem here is that so much of our tax is hidden in all of things we have to buy AFTER paying state and federal taxes. Taxation without representation.
