A teacher at Sterling Middle School has been charged with possession of marijuana after he was found asleep in his car in a school parking lot.
Sheriff's deputies came across the car of Thomas Earl Doss, Jr., 26, of Winchester, in the parking lot of Rolling Ride Middle School around 1:49 Wednesday morning. Deputies observed Doss sleeping in the car at the school on East Fredrick Drive.
At the scene deputies observed a green leafy substance that field-tested as positive for marijuana.
Doss, orchestral director at Sterling Middle School, is a graduate of Shenandoah University where he majored in music education, according to his biography on the school's Web site. This is his first year teaching in Loudoun County Public Schools.
Doss will be placed on administrative leave from LCPS, as is standard practice for anyone who has been charged with a crime, Wayde Byard, spokesperson for LCPS, said.
Wednesday Doss was released from custody on a summons for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
