Sup Cali,
I currently live in your racist neighbor state of Az. I'm white, but unlike the majority around here I have absolutely no problems with people being mexican, or smoking.
There is one thing that Cali 'appears' to have that Arizona doesn't. Tech savy culture or at least more appealing to the corporate world and alike. Here in Arizona, not so much. I've been working in IT for what will be 9 years in April. I'm looking to move; a variety of reasons mostly, but I like to smoke and I'm not down with the Tea Party or living in the Leave it to Beaver era either.
My intention was to try to get a job at a major university (if possible of course) in IT to open up a discounted quality education track as well. USC is hiring as well as UCLA. However, I'm not entirely set on universities, anywhere that can let me sustain a small apartment and my dog would be sufficient. Like I said, I am coming from Arizona after all.
Would any local residents care to direct me in the right direction for rentals? What area's to stay away from?
I've looked at Google Maps and did apartment searches based on the surrounding cities of UCLA mostly, but I am totally clueless to the demographics so I wouldn't know if I was walking into a trap until it was set. I do plan on making a road trip very soon, spring break is coming in a little over a week So I'm trying to put together a loose plan since I'll be ridin' solo and don't wanna just start wandering around like a tourist.
Lastly, with the current areas (for which I am clueless to their names) I mentioned above could a cali local tell me where I could expect to get my medicine? Costs, and law enforcement friendliness? Here in Az it's about to be legal, but it's still going to your word vs the cops.
