Tempature fluctuation amount?

Hi guys

I got my tent pretty much dialed in. My Fan ON and Fan OFF times run like clock work ( well almost)

I can set the Temp differential on my controller. Right now I have it set at 3*F.

Example.
Desired temp :77*F (fan off)
Temp climbs to 80*F (fan comes on)
Temp drops back to 77*F (fan shuts off)
Repeat lol.

My question is:

Is 3* difference ok?
Should it be more or less?

Also is it better to set your temp lower than wanted. And allow the 3*F difference float back and fourth across your “ desired” temp?

What temperature do you like for veg and flower?
Apparently these are the "ideal" temps that marijuana grows in. Nothing is ever perfect though (at least in my case anyways), so im sure if you are a few degrees off, its not really a big deal. Info from http://www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com/temperature/ I can tell you my temps are higher then what the "ideal" temps are (vegetation wise), and haven't had any problems.

"The ideal temperature during the vegetative stage is between 68-77°F (20-25°C) with moderate humidity while also providing slightly cooler temperatures during dark periods.

The cooler ‘night’ periods are perfect for encouraging growth. Don’t let temperatures drop below 59ºF (15ºC). Once the plant matures, it should be able to withstand cooler temperatures during the day and drier air as well.

Once your plant reaches the flowering stage, it can thrive at a comfortable room temperate with low humidity. Unless you are adding additional CO2 to your grow room, a temperature under 82°F (28°C) is ideal. These lower temperatures encourage potent, trichome rich buds that you can smell and enjoy before you burn them.

Don’t go over 82°F (28°C) because higher temperatures cause terpenes to evaporate and they also slow bud growth. If your buds are too hot during this time, you may be literally burning away the good stuff as they grow, leaving very little taste or smell by the time of harvest."

SO with growing indoors the greatest thing is that you can control everything, in the hopes to maximize growth potential.

When the temps drop low to too low they will slow growth and nutrient uptake. Thus lowering overall out put.

From what I've gathered and what I like Veg should hang out at 75 or close, when your start going over 82 or longer periods it will slow uptake and growth, water uptake may increase but nutrient uptake will slow. When you start dropping below 70 the same will happen, but "night time" temps can easily hang around 70-72 to simulate natural night time drops.
All of this changes if you have Co2 being introduced. Your plant will want higher temps then but not too much higher.

For flower you should probably hang around 70-75 and the same advice goes for highs and lows in temps except when the plant is in flower then it can really effect your flower out put because it takes a while for the plant to come back after a stress.

In all honesty if you keep it below 90 and above 55 then you'll still have a good plant. But as I said before growing inside is really all about controlling everything to maximize the plants potential.
