THC Syrup made with RSO/FECO?

Hey everyone,

Has anyone out there made THC syrup? And, specifically, THC syrup using RSO/FECO?

I use edibles for chronic pain relief because they can be strong and have long-lasting effects. I got some THC syrup from a local dispensary awhile ago and it was great. I really liked that it was very concentrated (1000mg for the small bottle) and easy to use/take.

I just made some FECO and got to thinking, gee, I wonder if I could just make THC syrup out of this?
I looked at a couple recipes and they were basically just making a simple syrup, cooking decarbed weed in it, then adding flavoring. I really don’t understand that—everything I’ve ever read has said that THC is fat and alcohol soluble. So, how could they possibly extract the THC into a water and sugar syrup, even if it’s decarbed?

Anyway, I figured I could just make a simple syrup, and just add FECO and some flavoring to it. The only thing I don’t know is that the FECO is so concentrated and nasty tasting, would it make the syrup nasty-tasting, too? The syrup I purchased wasn’t bad tasting, but they probably use some kind of distillate I don’t have access to.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe take your FECO/RSO and dissolve it into a small amount of everclear/ethanol and then you can infuse anything with that. Warming it and stirring it for a bit will cook the alcohol off if need be. You could also warm MCT oil and dissolve your FECO/RSO into that and use but not sure if that would end up separating from your syrup.

Lecithin is an emulsifier, it will help distribute the canna oil in a water based liquid. 210s https://modernistpantry.com/shop/?search_query=Thickeners
is a thickener. The canna oil doesn't separate as easy in a thicker syrup.

I would add both to your syrup and mix it well. An immersion blender works well for this to keep the canna oil (feco) evenly suspended in the syrup.

For the best tasting syrup I would probably just do a QWET then evaporate the alcohol off, add it to whatever you want. Of course decarb first and make sure your alcohol and buds are freezing cold first. That should keep the taste down and potency up. Kiss

RSO/FECO is usable orally if you decarbed before or after making it. Not sure why all the pondering and making it harder? Do you want good source of meds(easy to make RSO/FECO) or are you just trying to act like a scientist on the stove?
