Hey fellas,so ive finally finished the box, everything is set and ready to roll...seeds are in their paper towels and sucking up that RO water.

Im planning on updating this frequently as we go,but here is the run down,i will post pics of the grow box on saturday
Soil
For my soil i have selected coco coir with a perlite mix. about 20% perlite,80% coco coir.
I have 4 babies, they will be in 3 gal pots.

Nutes
For my nutes i have selected "advanced nutrients" their 3 part "jungle juice" solution,i will be using the measurement that they suggest on the back of the bottle, but probably 1:50 because my babies are autos.

Lighting
For my lighting i have selected 2x 250w(acctuall W) CFL's 6500k for veg,and for flowering i will use the same bulbs but in the 2700k models,i will also have 4 5000k 32w cfls as side lighting.

Odour/Aircontrol

So for this grow i have manned up and purchased a 4" inline fan, with a speed controller, and a 4" carbon filter.
I will be also running 2 ONA blocks, one inside and one by the exhaust.

My intake consists of 2 stealth pc fan

The box information
So the box dimensions are: 36"h,40"L,12"W
The walls consist of a 2 layer ply wood construction, the space between the two pieces of ply wood are filled with rockwool(soundcancellation insulation)

All the joints are sealed with caulking, including all fans, power input.

The door has a rubber seal going all the way around and locks on the one side.

anything that moves or has the possibility to move/rattle are screwed on with a rubber gasket between them and the wood to insure no noise coming from them.

Seeds/Strains

*****all the seeds are auto flowering and feminised******

So i have 4 babies going this grow,i just germinated them today with the good and reliable wet papertowel method.

The strains i have selected are:

  • Afghan Kush Ryder(World of Seeds)
  • White widow(Nirvana Seeds)
  • Berry Bomb(Bomb seeds)
  • Purple Kush(buddha Seeds)

Any information/advice anyone is willing to put forward im willing to listen and take seriously, thanks for all your help/thanks for looking fellas!!!!!:leaf::leaf::leaf:

This pic is the 4 seeds inside of their little baggies soaking up some water.beautifully labbelled, ready 2 go

i will be updating this as we go!!so stay tuned

alrighty,so just a quick update, but the box is complete, and i have 3 of the 4 seeds in soil,it has been 15 hours since they are in soil,so im not expecting anything yet!

Thanks for the support fellas,i will post updated pics when they sprout out of the soil(coco coir, perlite)

just a quick question regarding airflow...So the way my exhaust system works,it goes from a 4" can carbon filter,to a 4" inline fan,the exhaust port on that inline fan goes throught a hole in the box, which on the otherside of the wall/plywood,there is a 4" vent defuser that i picked up from home depot, its a round deffuser with adjustable levels to allow/restrict airflow.

So here is my question: I have the fan on a switch that allows me to control the speed of it,i have it as low as it goes, but the final product of the air leaving the box, after the deffuser is to loud...any suggestions on how i could reduce the speed possibly even further then the switch allows?possible decrease the input power to the switch itself?or is there a higher quality deffuser avail online that i could pick up??

Thanks for the help, ill post pictures tommorow, around lunch of everything thus far

Yea,so that is what i currently have hooked up to my fan a "potentiometer",if i were to buy another one, would it be able to reduce the speed?or are they all the same?

The one i currently have on it says 15A max,at 120v,or how does that work?

would something like this give me better results it is the same idea, but a different company(i belive hydrofarm),mine only lets me run at say 25%,will this allow me to run slower?

or is there a better deffuser or something instead?

That's what I was talking about. Looks like a fan upgrade (quieter) may be in order. I don't think another brand will work any different.

do you have any suggestions on ultra quiet fans?ive already spent 70 bucks on the one i currently have,it needs to be a 4" to match the hole, carb filter i have...thanks man!

That's what's up. I don't know the brand. It may just be an inferior brand but you say the motor noise isn't the problem the air gushing is the problem. Is it louder without the defuser? Try pulling instead of pushing. That may help. I have never seemed to have the issues you are talking about cause my exhaust usually goes in the attic or another room.

yea i was sort of intending to run it into a cold air return directly into my furnace, but with space limitations, that has stopped me,the duct muffler is what i was looking for,the link you sent me...my fan itself running is cut down in sound by about 75%,it was the gushing air that was killing me.The deffuser i currently have in there cuts the sound down by about 5-10 %,but not enoph...Once again thanks...i would give you more rep,but i cannot till i spread it around more :p lol...ill post pics once my babies poke throught the surface, what do you think of the setup?
