The Best Things In Life Are Free!

Hello everyone! Long time reader first time making a journal. I hope that either you can take some info from this or you can learn from mistakes and or possibly help me out along the way.

A little background this seed was sprouted on Oct. 31, 2010. That puts it at right around 6 weeks old. I started another with it that died, I think the fungus gnats I was battling for the first 3 weeks is what did it in. Completely severed the root. Also for the first 3 weeks it was under one grow lux 24" 17 watt bulb (far inefficient for anyone looking to find cheap lights to start with) Since then I added two 40W CFL's and am going to add more here in a few days. Anyway week or so ago I posted here with some possible deficiency due to the gnats and or lack of nutes, or more than likely the lighting here is what it looked like:

Same as above, another shot

So I decided to give it a shot and add Nitrogen. Right around this time is when I added the two new CFL's. Since then all the yellow problems went away and it took off in the stem branches and developed very nicely. It is currently on its 6th set of leaves. I just topped the plant today (12-13-2010) and am hoping that turns out well, I went with the FIM method (or as close as I could get it possible :)) Below are what it looks like today. Since I have started 4 more that are in germination.

Since I just topped my plant today I noticed it really darkened up where I cut it, is this normal? It almost turned black looking just where I cut it at. Sorry for no picture can really see it, its only faintly dark and obvious right where the scissors were. Any help or opinions are welcome and I hope to see how this baby turns out. No signs of sex yet, but I just dropped it back to 18/6. Commence!
