I was reading today that this method of veg light reduces your light bills by about 35% and does wonders for the plant?

it said something about plants wouldn't get 18/6 light naturally and mentioned this 18/6 actually stresses the plant idk ?

the guy how wrote this ( ill try to find it ) was the first person to feminize plants with silver spray, and he's done some other interesting work on cannabis ,?

it goes something like this ( i think )

12 on
5•5 off
1 on
5•5 off

i think?? Is this bullshit idk

i found it :)

ive heard that it will keep a plant in veg, that being said if u want to save on power use t5's and run 18 on, you will have better results.

i love this method. i changed the one hour on to a half hour on though. plants show sex faster when thrown into flower and i have the exact same growth i did when i used 18/6.

just don't switch in the middle of a veg cycle. you will throw your plants for a loop with the change.

no i mean if you have plants vegging under 18/6 don't change them to this method. being used to getting so much light will make them go hard into flower when it is reduced so drastically. when the light comes on in the middle of the night it will not be enough to completely stop flowering and the plants will look like they are re-vegging. you will be come disgusted with this method and give up on it. start using this cycle at the beginning of veg.

Sorry- I've tried multiple photo periods in the past (that article/concept is nothing new), and I use 18/6 and 12/12 to this day. I don't keep records of my grows, but if different photo periods had improved yields, I'm 100% sure I would've kept up with it.

There is something to be said about a plant's ability to adapt and use any available light and begin to thrive on that specific photo period after generations of reproduction.

then the only good thing about it is it saves 30% electric

Possibly- at the expense of lowered yields for multiple generations, with no end in sight. We don't even know how long it took the ruderalis morph to become what it is today. Evolution is constant and the period of time between one substantive phenotype and the next could be 10 years or 1000 years.

exactly what i was thinking....?

in not getting into a plant evolution discussion because i don't know enough , put i do know ( i think ) that through evolution the plants don't need as much co2 as they did millions of years ago ( basically because there isnt as much).

and i don't know about this but i read the two tiny up pointing leafs on the nodes were Protection against harsher wether to protect the flowers, and due to evolution the weathers not as harsh and they have no purpose? .........abit like an old hooker.

im not sure about the above and take no responsibility for what may happen.lol

Ok so no 18/6 naturally, but we know this, this is from and for growing indoors. Pushing the plant futher then Nature.

And this is found in Nature where?

What your talking about will cause the plant to grow bawls if it's a female. That's light poisoning, how I make seeds:)

Works well. Quite. My veg chamber is currently 12-1. Massive thick stems and great growth thou i cant say its all lighting alone.
I had pistils showing at 25 days from seed which fo more is faster then usual. We'll see how they transition to flower from
12-1.
