A group of veterans plans to rally at noon Thursday on the east side of the El Paso County courthouse, 270 S. Tejon St. in support of the legalization of marijuana.
The group, called Veterans for 64," said it will support Amendment 64, the measure on the Nov. 6 ballot that would regulate marijuana like alcohol.
The group was formed in response to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment's denial of a petition to add post-traumatic stress disorder to the list of qualifiying conditions for medical marijuana.
The veterans say that because PTSD won't qualify for marijuana cards, the state should adopt legalization for all on the November ballot.

These are the real heroes of mmj or straight up mj, not these self proclaimed heroes with a backyard full of pot plants that think they're doing something for the cause by filling their pockets with untaxed dollars.Grow responsibly or don't grow at all.

The real heoes are anyone who grows, including you. Something is better than nothing. Also, do you seriously think that a governement regulation (more force and violence, which is wtf we are trying to stop really) is an answer? Saying that it is a step in the right direction is silly too. Complete freedom and deregulation is the only way. Line in the sand, sand box boy... thanks for posting it but quit tearing others down please. This is about people, not THE STATE! Thanks.

Real heroes are also anyone who knows anything about this plant and has the balls to be honest with themselves about it, as well as others... we're all in this together else we hang seperately... for hurting no one. If there is a "regulation" how about it starts with waking the hell up... but then again, people who are "awake" don't want to "enFORCE" it that way.

you ask for too much all at once, do you think the progress that was made was overnight?Do you think someone growing pounds and pounds of weed is paying taxes on that weed they sell and is doing it for a cause other than the money? it is income you know and in the working world (where most incomes are made) income is taxed, how many dollars do you suppose go untaxed due to "legal" grows not to mention underground illegal grows. you people see me post against the cash croppers and its ALL me that's wrong, I don't think so.

The problem with your approach is -- if everyone in the country grew, yes that could happen... but what you want is never gone to happen (from nothing to everything) -- there aren't enough growers who care about it. And non-growers, even many smokers, really don't understand the love for growing. To them they don't care as long as they get their weed. They don't understand why you like to grow. They don't understand why you would take the chance. And those are smokers. We would not be where we are today without the MMJ states showing it's not the end of the world. We won't get to complete legalization without having partial legalization first. And the state will ALWAYS regulate it, for example it's never going to be legal for ANYONE to possess... it's going to be over 21, etc... I definitely agree we need to keep the state out of production either directly or by contracting companies to grow it for state shops. The last thing we want is the government controlling what we get. But we're going to have to live with lightweight legalization before people will accept that the full deal is not going to be the end of the world.

I appreciate that and my rebuttle is a suggestion for you if you choose to take it. I suggest you check out the Free State Project and some of it's off chutes like the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance for people who still believe the system can actually ever do any kind of good (yeah, on a rainly day... complete BS as I see it)... I could fill up this page with links but I think if you check out those two sites and check out some of the news and videos that some of the folks have put out there for us (youtube and such) ... I'm not entirely hopeless. I do belive that after a whole lot of hell on earth (what we are facing now, when the gang repeatedly rapes, robs and pillages for their "retirement accounts" (which is also vanishing as their dollar dependent drone minds work harder to kick the shit out of you for a living... for hurting no one)) that real freedom can and will inevitably exist. Though there remains a ton of rediculous blue laws and some that are an absolute tyrant's wettest dream, that is it still the least unfree place in the 50 and the only last hope (if there still is time) where we can simply fricking live, without those bastards watching our email posts, beating our faces in, wrecking familes, listening to our phones add nasuea and infinitum all while stealing from you and I, making people slaves and wards of "the state"... if folks don't get it by now they are likely just still too stuck in drone mode. Me? I'm just baked and want to be forever... what's wrong with that?

Also in regards to ammendment 64 this law also protects colorado citizens from the feds if they didn't put a 6 plant limit and a few other regs on how we can grow can you imagine the bad press the CO would be getting for out of state cannabis distribution? People growing hundreds of plants in their suburban backyard and shipping it over state lines to make 5000 a pound is no good for us. The feds would have a field day and throw it up on every major news network! We want to send the right message right now that message needs to be responsibility and if we can show people that you don't have to be some out of touch lazy human being if you smoke cannabis then that is a step in the right direction. We need to eliminate the stigma's that the governent has created over this amazing plant, one way to start is for everyone especially here to stop using terms created by gangs or our government and start using the scientific name of this glorious plant CANNABIS! Another is to discuss its potential like IDk curing/preventing Cancer, Crohns disease, asthma, pain relief, and of course recreational use with very few harmful side effects. ( if ingested no harmful sideeffects what so ever) many many other s as well
