Thinking of a veg room

Can anyone link anything that can tell me how many lumens are required per plant to veg or just post a reply.
I must be to baked to find it on my own.
My situation is that Ive actually managed to grow succesfully, twice, but hate the downtime of the growroom being both for veg and flower. So Im trying to do all possible research before I build anything.

Thanks in advance for any help:clap:

We will need to know how big your flowering room is along with what type of lights you are using and how many plants you plan on flowering to be able to answer this question. Just state exactly what you are looking to accomplish and the answers will come pouring in.

I do 5 plants for each growing cycle.
Planing on buying an indoor tent and cant decide on T5 or a 175 HPS

I really just need to know the lumens needed to sustain 5 plants through the vegin cycle?

If ur just settin up for veg, I wouldn't use the hps. Hps emits high levels of the red light spectrum, which is primarily used during flowering. I'm currently running a similar setup as u, in a closet, but with TWO plants vegging under 8 100w cfl's. I'd either go cfl or flourescents for veg, if you got the cash, invest in a metal halide which emits high levels of the blue spectrum which ur plants need most when vegging

Ty for the replies to my question, but what Im actually looking for is the required amount of lumens per plant to be able to sustain itself through the vegetative cycle.

the suggested range is 7,000 - 10,000 lumens per square ft. you need to supply your own plant/sq ft guess as it differs by strain and training techniques

i think its between 7 and 11k of lumens per plant :) if im wrong someone correct me

No offense to sllik or desert (whom I usually agree with), but 7-10k per sq ft or per plant is a bit excessive for vegging. That is the type of light you need to flower, vegging takes mush less energy, thus much less light. You can get away with just about anything for vegging it's more about space time and heat issues. It is typically better to use MH for vegging but MH bulbs run pretty hot and you could run into heat problems in a tent. personally if I only had 5 plants to veg and was going to be running perpetual anyways, in a tent I would go with the t5 if you can afford it and fit it into the tent. They run pretty cool and take up less vertical space and you can get them in the right spectrum for vegging. Really it's up to you though I would either go with a low wattage 150-250 mh setup (make sure you get it air cooled), or the t5. The mh is probably technically the better light, but could be more trouble than it's worth and the t5 although it may not produce quite as fast (I doubt it would even be noticable) will be less work to set up and to maintain. Good luck however you decide.

maybe if i read the thread when not toasted i'd actually see this is a veg room. i defer to regrets.
