Well affordable is relative.. my max fan 8" is 180 bucks and I thought that was affordable, but to you it might be too expensive.

Ebay or craigslist.. probably your best bet.

Well it would absolutely depend on your setup, if you have a small cab or box and plan to use CFL's you might be able to get away with it, however if you plan to use MH/HPS then your probably going to need at least a 4" inline like the one Metasynth linked to, although the best deals Ive ever seen were on Craigslist, most often there used but in good working condition. Post some pics and info about your setup so we can better help you.

get an ebay hydrofarm 6 inch 400 cfm fan and a fan controller for an extra 20 bucks. so if and when u upgrade its one less fan u need to buy. plus it really depends on ur grow room size and lighting setup.

I got this one and have been very pleased with it. It's a 530 CFM fan, and was under $70. I went ahead and got a speed controller so I can turn it down, which was a good idea because it is loud when it's on full blast. With a 1000W light I needed a good fan though. You can get away with less, but I figured I'd rather get the best stuff I can find rather than things that are too small and I can't do what I want anyway. 1000W is overkill for what I'm doing, but I didn't want to have to worry about getting something bigger later.

or what that guy said also. i am just partial to the seedless green colored fans and the brand. but any decent fan will work.

Do a search for c.a.p. valueline centrifugal fans. I got a 10" (780 Cfm) for around 120!! These fans are very quiet and true to their Cfm rating. I will be getting another for my veg room, so yes I'm very pleased with mine!
