Thought on topping.

I just started my first grow and I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on topping. What are the pros/cons of doing this? Should I do this and when?

pros - shorter overall height typically, multiple tops equating to more bud surface area and an easier time managing light penetration, can root the top you cut off, can top over and over again for the bush effect

cons - nil, provided your strain isn't a center rocket-cola type and responds well to training. Some strains just aren't efficient/productive when topped.

Some people like to top their plants within the first couple of weeks, some like to wait until two or so weeks before flowering.
Basically the rule of paw is: allow your plants at least 2 weeks to recover before flowering

Topping and any other pruning method are all tools the gardener uses to get the plants to perform in the space allotted. It's all about how much space you have and the methods u use to get your plants to produce.
