Thoughts on bottom-feeding water to seedlings?

Given the fragility of the plant at this stage, top-feeding seems to compact the soil quite a bit. Has anyone got experience with letting the pots sit in a saucer of water to let the medium soak it up as necessary? Am I likely to overwater or experience budrot using this method? And if you use this method, when should you start top-feeding the plants? Thanks

If it's just plain water, you can bottom-feed for the entire life of the plant. Dunno if I would let it sit in water constantly, like after 30-60 mins I would dump out anything that hasn't been absorbed, but there is nothing wrong with bottom-watering at any stage.

That's why they're in a tray.

I put the nutrient into trays/saucers.

You can still feed from the top gently using a large syringe.

I start top feeding when I pot them up for flower.

Bottom feeding Is a great way to prevent some pest like fungus gnats this way the top of the medium stays dry

Basically what @weedstoner420 suggested, the excess gets drained away with the capillary strip.

Ime with capillary it's wet enough at the top to go green.

That's why I've lids on the pots.
