Tiered growing Ideas

There may already be a thread about tiered growing on here. But im looking at building out a room with some tiered shelves and using led lights. Does anyone know how some of these guys on youtube get the plants almost touching the lights on these 36 inch shelves without burning them or growing Fluff. I'm guessing they dim them down quite a lot?

These guys seem to be using quantum boards, maybe custom build for those shelves. I was considering those or the finger light I.E spyders or something of that nature. Any help on set up or design would be awesome. Also for air flow and cooling Im trying to figure out how to run air for a tiered system. I guess I could just have the fans normal mounted on the wall on a tiered system as well.

This tiered growing is all new to me but I like the idea of maximizing footprint. I'm gonna be running solar as well so we will be close to carbon neutral which will be cool.

Does my ghetto setup count in this category?
big box plan.png

4 boxes@2'x4'x40"...-7" for tote and top panel to block light...leaves ~33" for plants and lights.
Made my own led panels from LED bulbs...2S4P per panel...made some basic drivers to run them...adding more to them for next run.

I got about 5 oz from 2 GG#4...normal story of new grower and the leaning curve...and the plants got so heavy they tipped over forcing chop day...lol

Yea of course it does thats a cool blue print thanks. How is your airflow set up. Why did you use those led boards like that?

They were cheap/on sale...lol
I started with some blurples I built awhile back, but I found I was always fighting heat problems...I didn't have much setup for air flow then beside pc fans on top of the light panels. (3w x 50 LEDs X 3 panels in each box)
This is where I started looking into SMD LEDs and everything kind of evolved from there...Bought a bunch of bulbs on sale for like $1.50/bulb and wired a few up once I had figured out the voltage they needed...plants seemed to like them and the heat was a lot more tolerable so I built 4 panels for the bottom 2 flower boxes. They normally run at 60V, but I run 2 in series at 105V or ~52.5V each so they produce almost no heat...slightly warm to the touch. I forget the amps they draw, but I think it was something like 65-70 watts per panel. Trying to find more of the same bulbs to get more watts and hoping more end product.

So now that I kind of had heat problems under better control the air flow could be less intense...I have small pc fans at the top of each box on the outside wall(s) sucking air from the box and blows it into the hollow outside wall chambers...in box 1 & 2 I use a larger duct tubing to join the 2 outside walls and then there is an AC fan in the window (just the fan from an AC unit...no AC) that I have the last tube that connect to outside of box 1...so 3 & $ push out and up...1 & 2 pull that up and push out box 1 where its then sucked outside. Hope that makes sense...lol
