Time question

I was looking online at some plants and it kept saying for outdoors the plant wild finish end September and I was wondring if that is when they actually finish. I thought that it only takes six to nine weeks

Outdoors you rely on the length of the days to induce flowering. There isn't enough dark time for quite a long time to induce flowering.
