Tips for hand-watering bushy plants

I've heard about burning the plant when giving nutrients directly on the leaves, and to try to water the medium below. I have northern lights here in a somewhat confined space, so they've been topped and are being trained to stay low (as best as I can in my first grow). My question is should I still avoid hitting the leaves with nutrient water? I don't like the idea of manually pushing it out of the way as I water it, but I'm probably being overly delicate.

I try to never get nutes directly on the leaf material...
Just use one hand to move the leaves while you water with the other... wait till they really get bushy!!

I bought a small pump from Harbor Freight and put it in a fine mesh "hop bag" as a filter, attach a few feet of plastic tubing and put it in my nute bucket. Plug it into a power strip with on/off switch. Works great for me.

Long length of plastic down pipe works well.

I can't reach the back 4 plants in my grow for the last 30-40 days of flower but the guttering works well to keep them watered.

Don't forget to "tuck" in the dirt all the way around the edge of those bags prior to watering to avoid the instant runoff issues.

I like this idea. Can I make extra nutrient solution and have sort of a reservoir? Or is it bad to leave the mixture out?

Do you mean the sort of 'valley's' on the sides of the fabric pots?

I mix nutes about a week ahead of time.. just give a good stirring before use...

Works great .......my big gardens are on gravity systems .....but my home plants that I expirement with ....I call dad's garden lol ...is all done with a harbor freight pump and hose attached to a 4ft bamboo support stake .....makes reach super easy and the pump goes int a 25 gallon float filled tank .....I love my big grows but I also love my personal more hands on plants I do for myself at home ......this growing thing happends to be what I enjoy and my hobby so I still like to do a small grow by hand and try different things .......image.jpg
My lil personal garden .....which I usually end up sharing with my patients as well .....

Yes, make sure the dirt is tight to the edge similar to when dirt pulls away from a normal pot...if you don't the water floods to the sides and runs directly down the sides and out the bottom...g/l
