I graduated from college. It happened every year and the cops ignored the sit ins in the park where everyone was getting high.

Openly defying the law enforcement personnel that had nothing to do with making the laws they are required to enforce is not progress.
I don't completely agree, I think over abundance of law enforcement officers in rural low populated area do cause a problem. They have nothing better to do than speed traps and harass people for petty shit.
They simply do their job which is to execute the enforcement of the laws on the books. If skittles were made illegal tomorrow they would bust you for possession of skittles.
Do you know why it is changing? They are realizing they can't enforce it. Make it impossible for them to enforce it. There is no part of police work that does not require dominating people.
Speed trapping makes departments money, writing you a 60 dollar ticket for 6 on a 10mph instant drop isn't protecting and serving, it's bullshit and it happening in all smaller towns in the US. Stopping and harassing kids talking on the side of the road on Fri and sat night is not in a job description. Stop and frisking because someone looks different are not following the laws. We have serious over reach in our law enforcement.
Socialists do that on a grand scale. They just love police states.
