Tobacco Mosaic Virus?

Hey there, hope all is well with ya.
I was thinking my problems were PH and/or calmag, possibly iron deficiency. This is my third time flowering. I did several experiments this time around. Tried some 12/12 from seed and all sorts of soil ratios of fox farm, happy frog and perlite. I even tried reusing soil by mixing in like 30% with new stuff. I had been using straight tap water using vineger to PH down. Learned that was probably part of my problem so this week switched to buying 5 gallon jugs of allegedly RO water from Walmart for 39 cents a gallon. It's gotta be better than what comes out of my sink. I won't even cook with that water, it's bad where I live. I never really noticed until I started paying attention. Anyway I've been reading and I've tried adding a small dose of calmag. In hindsight I should have waited to flush out all the crap from my crappy tap water and went from there, but woulda coulda shoulda. So far, I've rarely used nutes, I have fox farm nutes but I use it very lightly cause fox farm soil is a little hot. I've had plants that turned out well enough using little nutes. Anyway, I'm thinking this might be TMV? I have about 8 plants and others that are doing well, so I don't know. Light is roughly 436 watts blurple vipraspectra, temps and humidity hover around 70-80 degrees and 30-50%. The genetics are unknown due to being random bag seed. I practice heavy HST, LST and supercropping up until about 2 weeks inin flower sometimes if it stretches. I mainly just try to keep a full layer of colas all on the same level. Back to topic, I'm at loss, could it be root rot cause I used old soil? I don't think it's an issue of over/underwatering. Thanks to anyone that has some advice!

Firstly in 10 years of growing I’m still yet to see one confirmed case of TMV in cannabis.

Unfortunately my friend this type of issue that you are experiencing to me looks like you may possibly have russet mites.

You’ll need a decent scope to actually check properly.

But all the damage you seem to be sustaining does look suspiciously like russet mite damage.

I have a cheap 120x scope that works well enough for trichomes. I used it and checked out the under sides of the leaves near the veins and I didn't see any evidence of mites.

Yeah, after reading some more, you're probably right. I'm going to go ahead and just toss the victims, and clean everything. Going to use more prevention next time. Fresh soil with diatomaceous earth sprinkled on top or something. Also get some spinosad or something to treat ones in veg just for precaution.

I managed to catch a picture of this little fella on the under side of a small fan leaf near a flower. I can't tell if it's broad or russet mite.

Looks like a russet, i had the same damage when i had them. Bottom growth browning and new growth comes out yellow/stunted/curled.

Really not even sure if you could turn the plant around at this point, probably dont want to use any sprays unless you re-veg.

MVIMG_20181223_174041.jpg Yeah, they're not worth the hassel of saving them this late in the game. I'm better off just tossing em. I've still got these on the left side that area still looking well enough. I've got some plants ready to veg but I think I'm going to let this flower cycle finish and clean everything several times. I'm going to treat and clean my veg and flower area as best as possible until then.

I agree with what others have said above. I have also worked a few years on farms with extensive tomato cultivation. IMHO what you are showing is not it. Your pics looks like some type of over watering or overall soil issue, as in lock out or toxicity.

Cheers :)

Its very rare to get TMV, it is over watering

Both of you need to look at the further replies.

He has found russet mites on the effected plants.

Lol, yeah it wasn't overwatering or PH, though I wish it was! It was/is broad or russet mites. I never was able to see more than that single one with my cheap120x scope. Though I think I did see eggs, but one was enough. I tossed everything that was showing signs of infestation. Cleaned as best I could, but it's a tight space back there so it's difficult. I got some spinosad spray and used it on those in veg. I also got some diatomaceous earth for prevention. I still got 3 plants ready to harvest in a few weeks. I'm going to risk it and let those finish. They appear to be doing pretty well. The problem is my grow room is in a back room that doubles as a laundry room. My cats go in and out through the back door, no telling what they carry in... Anyway, prevention is key and I'm a lot more careful now. I know this war on the mites ain't over with yet!

Russet mite damage, but not sure what you captured in your scoped image, that is too big to be a russet mite. Russets will laugh at spinosad and DE. I'd hit the veg girls with Forbid4F and leave the flowering girls alone, hope for the best on them, not much you can do for them really. Good luck!

I've had russet mites once, and had to chop down everything, and move to another location and start over, those little bastards are nasty, and hard to kill.

Update: Everything is looking good in my grow room. Well, better than I was expecting it would a couple or so weeks ago. I was expecting everything to get ruined. Here's some pics from my three girls that are almost ready to harvest. Well, I think one is coming down here in a week thereabouts. This will only be my third or fourth harvest, I forget. I really need to start writing stuff down regarding my growing, lol. IMG_20190103_150913.jpg received_376755153133890.jpeg received_493669034492047.jpeg received_306508273199656.jpeg

What week are you in? Most of them look like they could use more time to me with the white hairs
Yeah, after I got to looking at them some more I decided I'm going to let them go longer. They're not quite done yet. I don't know what week they're in, and they're all different ages. I've kinda been learning to just go off what I see in the trichomes. Also, I do a lot of high stress training which adds time, so it's hard to tell. I took some pics with a scope and phone. It's hard cause my hand shakes. I forget which plants these pics came off of, but I know the one I was thinking about looked to be getting about 50% milky trichomes. Yeah, you're right, I'm going to let it go a couple more weeks at least. I know the others have more time, those trichomes are still clear.

RUSSET MITES!

ALWAYS TREAT EVERY PLANT IN THE AREA!

FORBID 4F and AVID in alternating applications.

4F and 5 days later AVID, 5 days later 4F, 5 days later AVID! BOOM DONE...

At the last 2 applications. Spray the media surface, and pot with a pyrethrin mix (contact killer) and be sure to cover well!

TMV? TMV does NOT effect cannabis!

i think i have russet mites or broad mites plrease checking my posts on other thread and tell me!! are thise two things you said organic for my girls?
I read your posts, those guys are right. Your plant looks fine, and they're giving you a hard time about it. It looks like you're nearing harvest time. It's too late, even if you do have mites. The only thing to do is throw it out, you don't want to spray your buds with anything. Though, I don't think you have any bugs.
