Ok I don't know my Canadian politics, but I thought Canada was independent on the British Crown, yes? So what's this about a speech to the throne?

oh damn i thought today was the day he gave a speech that would shed insight into his immediate plans... hoping he would mention legalization.... so nothing to look forward to today in that sense?

Canada is a Monarchy...the Queen is our head of state...on paper.

I've been a canuck (by birth, at least- I've been an 'expat' since I was just a few months old) for half a century and I was completely unaware that Canada had a monarchy!
