Tomatoes Are Neat

So about a week ago I snapped a branch while LST’ing my Maters. I taped it up and the leafs perked right back up the next day. Yesterday afternoon I found the whole branch laying on the ground and noticed the snap never fused itself back together. I pulled the tape off and found roots growing instead of a nice welded seam lol
If u look close it was even growing tomatoes! I just ended up tossing the limb bc I didn’t want disease in me garden! Pretty Neat Though! :blsmoke:

Mee too!
The kids eat them off the vine, come in the hoop house and drop seeds. That lead to over thirty of them in the side beds this past spring. I let them keep two as the five year old was upset at me pulling them all now the one I left at the north wall is 9.5 feet tall and 14 feet wide. You can see it (kind of) trellised to the wall in this picture. 20210722_154712.jpg
It's gotten way bigger since this was taken.

Anything I should worry about with the tomatoes and ladies being so close? I see ur ladies are intertwined with the tomatoes and it’s something I’ve been thinking about so figured I’d ask. Looking great man!

I don't think so. They really aren't intertwined though. I just keep moving the tomato branches away from the plant next to it and also bend the plant branches away from the tomato plant.

The tomatoes are prone to whitefly attacks but they get to be more protected in the hoop house. They also get treated for pests together so no real worries I have seen.

I also grow peppers, basil, lettuce, mint and other herbs and vegetables in the side beds.

Before building the hoop house I had hidden the cool plants amongst the garden plants, with no ill effects too.

Sooo, my tomato plant has made it to ten feet tall and all sixteen feet wide. It's putting out some good cherries and has gotten really heavy! Heavy enough that a few days after taking this picture it broke the trellising!

I went in to check on everything and take some pictures. Next thing you know, I heard a popping noise twice and then it slid down the wall and folded up. Errrrrg! So I ran and got the oldest boy to give me a hand.
It took about an hour to get it back up on the wall. Again, this plant is heavy! At least we only lost a few branches. It could've broken the mains... Heck, it could have broken branches on the more important plant in front of it. This time we put up a bunch of lath reinforcements to stop it from happening again.

Could have been worse,nice plants.I better shore mine up more.
