too much/little light?

Hi, I've just planted 6 seeds and I've got a cfl (which is apparently equivqlent to 100w) a few inches above each pot. I only potted the germinated seeds yesterday and am waiting for them to sprout through soil. Do you guys reckon that this is too much light or even too little light any feed back really appreciated. The seeds were £5 each and I'm skint lol

Yeah that's cool I've got a 250w hps I'm gonna use as flowering room. But I was just worrie that 100w per seedling would be too much. Cheers fellas

Hey bro, those lights don't qualify as 100 watts each. They are only 23 watts of useful light, and the 100 watt equivalent of the almost useless incandescent light. Sorry, but 23 watts is all you get with those bulbs. They make it sound like 4 of them would equal 400 watts of HPS, but in reality, you'd need at least 16 to do that, and still not have nowhere near the light penetration.

Anyway...they will work great for the first 4 days or so, but will then start stretching if you don't add more power, and you'll end up with a long stringy plant. Like was mentioned, look into some T5's if you want to stay with fluoros, or go with more or bigger CFLs. Or, go with MH which is a little better than the HPS for veg. HPS is the better choice if you want to use the same light for the whole growth cycle, all the way til harvest. LEDs are an option too, but are quite expensive to purchase. They use less electric and put off alot less heat, so they might be something to consider.

Exactly. For the first week or 2 all you need is one light a plant... I can out 20 seedlings (for a week then to outdoor) with 2 CFLS in my box...
