topping clones

ok so my plan is to top for 4 mains and then top those 4 mains at the 3rd node to get 24 then clone the 4 mains and cut the bottom 2 branches off so when i take my clones they have already been topped to 4 mains b4 cutting to root them ?

anyone got any input or simpler way of doin the same sorta thing??

I'm still trying to figure out how you top 4, and get it to split into 24. Hmm....am I missing something? *scratches head*

ok so i top and get 4 mains then top each of those above the 3rd node so i get 6 off each 4 then clone the 4 main stems at the bottom and take the bottom two branches off each 4 so that my clone has for mains b4 i cut it

Have you ever tried this '3rd node theory'? I've done quite a bit of reading this year(100's of hours), and never once heard of anything like that. Every topping method I've ever heard, or tried, has resulted in a main splitting in 2 mains, and on the rare occasion..three. Unless I'm wrong, you'll have to go from 4 to 8, 8 to 16, then 16 to 32.

Either way, it will take just as long to grow 4 mains no matter how you do it, whether you take a normal clone and top it twice, or take clones that have already be topped into 4 mains. The time you'll gain, equals the time you lost topping the first time.

the idea is to get as much as i can from the one big bang fem seed my time shouldnt be to much slower in the bubbleponic system. iv read a fair bit about topping and the way i see it you can top whenever you want to get as many mains as you want i.e cut above the 1st node get 2 mains above the 2nd get 4 above the 3rd get 6 and so on but im prity shore any thing more then 16 is streesin your plant to much and drops thc a fair bit

Great if you can get it right i would say that it is a kind of plant training.I topped the main shoot while in veg this gave me the two of shot brance's after about a week or two i then topped the two that i had topped earlyer.This gave me 4 main cola's instead of the ttwo that i would normaly do.But to be honest i think that not much will be gained from doing this unless you are wanting to holt the growth till you have more room in the flowering room.I have done test grows on the topped plants and also just let them grow without topping and the weight is about the same.But i must admit that i always top my plants at the end of week one i just got into a habbit of doing it i suppose but i always leave one girl to just do what she would naturaly i love to see that one giant cola.

Okay, now I'm 99.99999999999999999% sure I'm right.LOL It doesn't matter which node you top at, you will always end up with two mains. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just trying to set you straight, so that you don't get disappointed when it doesn't work like you expect it to work. You'll have to top 5 seperate times, in order to get more than 24 tops.

You can get 4 mains, or two mains, and 2 others that are just slightly shorter. I actually have 2 plants now that grew 4 main tops after topping once. One of them actually pretty much has 5. The fifth is just slightly smaller than the other 4.

iv topped just above the 2nd node and got for mains every time and iv topped branches just above the second node on none topped plants and had the 4 (i would call branches) come from that every time but iv never tried to do them both together

i like to have a 2nd 3nd 4th mind as many as possible to help me think about it

Okay, I see what you guys are saying now. I wasn't counting those side branches at the nodes as mains. But, i can see where a little training could turn them all into colas, so I will admit that you're not crazy after all. Just seems like an awful lot of trouble, rather than topping a normal clone twice.

basic idea i no yea it will take a lil more time but im thinking that i can get a higher yelled from the one seed making time time spent worth wile
